Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Well, I got this new gun as you may have read, now, I need to figure out what to shoot out of it. So much to choose from, this is where you guys come in . Any suggestions on what I should try out of it? 2-3/4, 3, 3-1/2s? ounces? shot size? Not looking for anything that will break the bank, but looking for about 3 suggestions on shells to try, from reading on here it seems like 3 inch shells are about the norm and #5 shot seems to be the most popular I picked up a box of Remington nitro turkey loads, #4s-3 inch. Just need a few more Ideas. Thanks.
wtnhunt
May not be what your gun and choke like, but my win 1300 sure patterns well with the 3 inch winchester supreme high velocity #5's.
Turkeygirl
I've tried Fed MagShok #6 out of my gun...they patterned good, but I want to pick-up a box on Winchester HV #5 and a box of Rem Copper Mags....those patterned well out of my old gun. FSU_Seminole
I've been studying choke tubes & shells for the past couple of weeks. Something I know for sure if you use heavy shot they recommend that you do NOT use a choke with a constriction tigether than .675. In fact they say .675 is perfect for their load & chokes with less constriction .680 ect ect will work great with their rounds. I've also heard lots of people like the Winchester Xtended range 3 inch in #6 shot.
the one
My favorite Turkey gun is a Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 gauge 3 ½ mage in realtree camo with a 30 inch barrel. I use a kick’s Gobblin Thunder choke. I shoot Winchesters Supreme High Velocity Turkey Loads 12 gauge 3 ½ with 1300FPS 2 oz. Numbers 4’s. This set up will take that old Tom out at 60 yards with yards to spare.
Leo
The Winchester HV 3 1/2" #4s get my vote in general. I always recommend them first. If your gun will pattern #4s out to 45yds then shoot #4s. The Fiocchi turkey loads are nickel plated and darn good too. A $9 a box. Worth a try. I had a Rem 870 that loved Federals 2oz 3 inch load. bluelund79
Both of my Turkey guns like the Remington Prenier Copper Plated Mags in 3" Mossberg 935-#5, TruGlow Turkey Choke Remington 870-#4, Primos Jelly Head Good luck in your search. It isn't cheap, and can take some time to figure it out. I spaced buying loads over a few paychecks so I didn't get to be the test target on the patterning board by the spouse.... Guest spit_drum
i have the same gun and was wodering the same thing, have not shot it yet, but will next week with a kicks gobblin thunder .680 (called kicks this is the choke they reccommended) and winchester 3 1/2 supreme hv in 2 oz # 5 shot. this is the combo that i have always used in the past with other shotguns. don't know if the browning will like it or not but i will find out and let you know next week. all the hevi-shot, nitro and even winchester extended range are too exspensive to shoot for my blood.
