johnf
http://www.cnn.com/ Looks like the response is overwhelming on the side of gun rights. Keep the votes comming. Did anyone see the idiot mayor say in one breath that there was a lot of hand gun crime in D.C. but that the ban was working?

BowJoe
My question is this. If 135 deaths were firearm related in 1976 (notice it said firearm related and not hand gun related) then how did 143 people die of firearm related injuries last year when handguns are illegal in Washington D.C.? I mean surely those guns are not legal and because of that the criminals will respect the law as all criminals do. I mean c'mon... it's the law. Let me guess... it's the law abiding citizens of Washington that are killing the people right? The people who had their guns taken away. What they don't question is... what was the race of both the victim and the gunman? Maybe the focus should be on who's doing the killing with a machine that can't operate on it's own vs. who's not doing the killing. Because if you got rid of all the guns in the world then death by stabbing would be the highest crime in the land. It's funny that millions of people have been killed before the invention of guns and yet they don't ban a steak knife which is the leading stabbing weapon in America. Just goes to show that the people that are running things are only disarming themselves and others and making victims of us all. It's okay for them to say they know a person that was killed by a person using a handgun but when that person isn't there to say it for themselves then that's the clue. Maybe that person would still be alive if they carried a handgun to defend themselves. I know that if I was a business owner, I'd keep a loaded handgun on the safe door in case of robberies. Bar none, I'd become a lawbreaker in Washington if I lived there. At least I'd be alive to go to trial.
