JaySee
I am not sure that hair slippage is the correct term here. I just want to know if it is normal for any hair at all to come off your deer mount. If I rub my hand over it a couple of hairs here and there will come out not a handful or anything (yet anyway). And every once in a while I will find a couple at the base below the mount. Is that normal? Or could I have bugs of some sort?
toddyboman
I think hair slippage comes from bacteria in the cape and I always thought it caused a lot of hair to fall out......but I'm not a taxidermist....So we better wait to hear from one of them. In your case hopefully its nothing major....
HuntingInMaine
When I clean our mounts there is always a few hairs that come out. None of them are younger than 3 years old and there aren't any bald patches or anything, so it's probably nothing to worry about.
RTF
How old is the mount ? If the mount was not tanned, but preserved with DP it will only get worse. Was the cape tanned ?
JaySee
The mount was done in 2006. I think the hide was tanned.
