Re: UH-OH

Well, the old goat will eat his words! I said earlier in the year the Bettis had "old" legs... Well, looks like him and Staley packed quite a 1, 2 punch today, and I will go out on a limb with a few minutes to go in OT and the Steeler's threatening, that their legs are just fine. Although they (Pittsburg in general) did look rough today... so Pitts fans, don't get too comfortable.

So anyways, back to grazing on my words... congrats Pittsburg.

Re: UH-OH

What a game! Rookie mistakes by Big Ben almost cost us........ BUT he put the drives together when we needed them most, getting the last touchdown in regulation & the overtime drive. The fumble by the Bus when we were heading into teh redzone was a costly mistake as well.

That was the first game I ever went to in Heinz Field. I do not know how well the sound came through on TV but it was SO loud at the game when the pressure was on the Jets that I am sure it had an effect. Especially on the Jets kicker wink.gif The emotional overrun in the stands at the missed Jets kicks was amazing. The second miss with 5 seconds left was out & out shocking. I thought I'd have a dejected drive home after a Steerler loss. But the Jets just could not handle the pressure & crowd noise. They played well................but it was purely Steeler mistakes that even left them in the game. half time should have been 17 to 3 Steelers. Not 10 even.

The Steelers have always seemed to start slow after a bye week. Throw in the fact that the last regular season game was with the Steeler JV squad .........And you see that the first team offense had enough time off to let rust develop on the men of steel wink.gif This game was a good wakeup call and I am sure that the boys will not take next week as lightly grin.gif

I saw an interview with Big Ben last week (before the game) where a reporter asked him how he feels about the speed & intensity of playoff games in the NFL. About the fact that the teams involved take things up another notch over the regular season. To which Ben replied that he could see no difference between the playoffs & the post season (remember, this was before teh Jets game grin.gif). I'll bet that Ben thinks differently now! HE will be ready next week no matter who we play.

The jets played well & lost it. But the fact remains........the Steelers won & will move on!
