archerjg
When your out shopping you might want to make sure you still have your license plates before you leave the parking lot. Sometime between last night and tonight my rear license plate went missing with all the mounting hardware. Now I only went into the town last night and work today. I found it missing tonight when I went to put the new registration stickers on and it was gone. I doubt it came off by itself as it has been there for 2+ years and was tight in place. The front tag was still there, but bent slightly it was straight the other day. I was not able to find it so I had to file a stolen/missing tag report with the Sheriff. Now comes the fun part of getting new tags and waiting for them to come in to pick them up. Just a heads up to keep an eye out. HOYTnMUZZYboy
I guess some people dont have anything else better to do. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. Plates never did turn up. Prolly hanging on someones garage wall with tons of other ones. Hope they catch who ever it was. Maybe we need to pass a few tags out for these people? lol Hope they find your plate! archerjg
The report was filed and the tag is now considered stolen and no longer any good according to the DMV. I have new tags now and I also put them on with anti theft hardware. 20 minutes and I was out of the DMV with new tags. The fastest I have ever been through the DMV. I was mad yesterday, but I look at it this way the obviously needed the tag more than I did, but it will come back to bite them. I wasn't the only one in the DMV that was there due to stolen tags. There was at least two or three other people having to get new tags due to theirs being stolen. Archerjg
bluelund79
Sorry to hear that you had to deal with that, but it was good to hear that you had it taken care of right away. I bet they are on a stolen car/truck right now....But they'll get dealt with!!!!!! What type of anti-theft device is out there for license plates? I can honestly say that I have never seen anything other than the nut and bolt w/ locktite that I use on my truck plates....Maybe I should go out and tack weld them as well?! Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Glad ya got it taken care of. Some people eh, they'll steal anything nowadays. I remember a while back, and I'm not sure if it still goes on, knowing the city i live near, I wouldn't doubt if it were still happening, but they would either steal the whole plate, or they would just cut the corner of the plate where the tags are:confused:. It happened to my aunt on more than one occasion, she started puting the plate in the rear window of her car. How can someones life be so pathetic that they have to steal license plates or tags?? WiHunter813
That happened to my mother-in-law. The person had the exact same car same color after he/she stole the plates they did a gas and go.
Dubie
They do all sorts of things. Any time they might risk thier car spotted, the look for same make/model/colour, boost the plates, and no worries being ID'd that way. Also, when they steal a car, often they'll take someone elses plates. Keeps the car from comming up stolen right away, as most people notice thier car missing within hours, but can go days or even weeks without noticing a mising plate.
