Acorns on Antlers

Has anybody else been finding a lot of "acorns" on their sheds or harvests. I mean like a knot on the antler where it might have gotten bitten or injured. Mine and a lot of other people around here have been finding antlers w/ "acorns" on them and I was just wondering if it was everywhere, or just something here that was causing so many of them.

I have picked up three sheds in the last couple of years with an acorn tip on them. They are the first that I have collected in 10 years of shed hunting. I figured acorn tips are like stickers or drop tines, they show up on antlers once in a while. However why did they show up in just the last year? Good question.

I think it's directly proportional to how many akerns they eat while in velvet, you know, like your mom always used to tell you, if you eat too much of one thing, you'll turn into that thing?

Actually, I have no idea how they get them, and I've never killed a deer with one, nor have I ever picked up a shed with one.
