Crazy VA System

My uncle, who is in his mid 80's, has a very serious hearing problem!:(

He was in on the invasion of Iwa Jima, in the Marines.

He went to the VA for his hearing and was asked "how he could prove that he was exposed to loud noises during the invasion"!:mad::mad::mad:

Isn't this just great?:mad::mad::mad:

With the battleships shelling the island 24 hours a day, continuous small arms fire, this guy who interviewed him must be nuts!:eek::eek::eek:

This people, is what the veterans have to put up with every day of the week when it comes to claims and problems they are having!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

What a crock!!:mad::mad::mad:

...Gosh- that is frustrating....!

The VA has to be one of the hardest, most disconnected agencies to communicate with/get results from.

-I was a home health aid a few years ago, here....and took one of my clients frequently to the VA up in Anchorage for appointments...I had to call, re-call, double-check, verify, and follow-up at every turn, on his behalf....eventually they actually started calling ME in Seward ...people asked me how I got them to do that.....but, really, a person shouldn't have to go to those extremes...but I was getting paid;....and, whatabout VA patients themselves, and their family??(like in your situation, OJR)...it must be tiring and humiliating to have to expend that energy, and have to keep repeating ones self, to be heard, and get proper care.....this vitally important agency needs an upgrade....our veterans deserve better!

Another example, it took me from 1963 to 2001 to get a hearing evaluation from the VA!:mad:

Now I am on a "waiting" list to have my teeth cleaned! It could take up to 2 years!:mad:

And then they want federal health insurance!:mad::mad::mad:

I wish they would dump the whole VA system and give the vets health, dental, hearing and eye care and the veteran could go anywhere they wanted to.:confused::confused:

It is costing the taxpayer tons more for this system and the care is the bottom of the barrel!:mad::mad:

I hope this doesn't get moved to the political room because everyone should be aware of what is happening with the veterans!:(:(:eek::eek:

I would honestly report it to one of the news stations. There have been va hospitals that have been under heavy attack from the media for pulling crap like that. I can not recall all the circumstances but I know fox news and msnbc covered it a few years ago.

now this is a very good idea. let the rats run for the dark corners..:mad:;)

and name names. say just who said what, and when they said it.
