Bowtech_archer07
I would definitely remount it. Get a different cape and have the a taxidermist remount it. Let us know if and how it turns out.
Dubie
I have an old smallmouth bass laying around. First 18" one I ever caught. I wanted it mounted, but didn't have the money. So, I went to the librairy, took out a book on fish taxidermy from 1960-something, and gave it try myself. The thing is lumpy, its in a wierd position, and mis-shappen, the color is off, and its quite obvious I painted it with a brush because I didn't have an air gun. Now, judging by the board, you would probably throw it out and get a new replica mount made. I think if you threw my ugly old fish in the garbage, I'll whop ya good ;p
lil hunter
I'm just wondering if your dad has any pictures of him with the deer after he shot it? I think it would be cool to remount it(assuming your dad agrees) then get a picture of the deer blown up and put it underneath the mount, to kind of keep the classic feel. wvhoytbowhunter
I appreciate everyones opinion. I will talk to my dad about it. I think it would def give it justice to remount. As far as I know he has no photos of the buck, which is a shame cause it would def be a keepsake.

texas8point
I'd re-mount it if your dad would enjoy it or if you want it for sentimental reasons........Nice horns
TravisM
My dad has a big buck that he shot in 1980, the mount is looking pretty ruff now after 28 years and all us boys offered to pay to have it remounted. He pretty much took it as a personal insult, and he is very firm that if we had it remounted, that it would be a completely different deer than the one he killed! He said we could have it remounted AFTER he died! You might just want to ask your father what he thinks.
