rage broad head

I shot 3 deer with them this year. First one was a small button. Second one I lost due to a washed out blood trail, 3rd one died within 100 yards.

Here's what I posted in the previous thread Joe linked to.

The first deer I shot with a Rage head this year was a fawn, but the head went through 1 rib and completely broke the off leg bone. Snapped it in two. The blades were dented a bit, but if you wanted to spend enough time sharpening them, they could have been used again.

The pic below is the Rage head I used last week to shoot that doe. You can see that the one blade is dented up a bit, but not too bad of shape. The other blade broke obviously. This arrow did not pass through, but did exit the other side. This blade broke at least 2 or 3 ribs on a very mature doe.

The first deer I shot with a Rage went a grand total of about 20 yards, the second one went about 150 yards. Both deer died within seconds of the shot.

I did shoot another doe with the Rage that we did not find. I won't blame the head on that one though. For the most part, the rain washed away the blood trail.

Pretty impressed with the Rage. I'll continue to keep using them.

As for the "cut on contact" tip, well, it's really not a blade IMHO, it's about as sharp as a butter knife, but in both shots on killed animals, it did not bend or break.

the tips are rather thick and i shot a large OH 8pt through the shoulder and it did nothing to the tip and barely messed up the blades......tore the deer up though

Imagine that - Chuck Adams enorsing Rage broadheads. - I was walking past a seminar area at the Harrisburg, AP outdoor show in Feb and Chuck just happens to be giving a seminar and lo and behold he is endorsing light carbon arrows, speed and rage broadheads - this from the guy who always touted heavy arrows - kinetic energy and cut on contact fixed blades - total reversal of attitude -

Can you say sponsor dollars speaking more than Chuck!

I get tired of all these "experts" and do not put any value in what they say or write as it is money talking. I put more value in true experience shared on threads like these by diehard hunters like myself than all the "wisdom" from these phonies.

You ever thought that maybe Chuck has seen the benefits of a faster arrow with a larger cutting diameter? Not just $$$ IMO, the Rage heads are all they say they are.

Well, I've been a heavy arrow advocate for a long time now. This winter, I picked up some carbon arrows, and new broadheads, and dropped a bunch of weight. I'll find out if I'm sticking with it after I shoot my spring bear. As for deer, you can pretty much kill a white-tail by throwing rocks at it, so I think people sometimes over-think thier setups. I've seen 40lbs kid bows with arrows that look like toys pass through on deer when shot into the right spots.

Rage

I killed 3 deer this year with the 2 blade rage and It worked very well. All the deer shot died within 50 yards of the point of impact. I just got worried about the rubber o-ring that the blades lock into......it had lots of stress cracks and I never felt the blades "click" into place...they just kinda sat there snuggly I guess. But they did kill the deer quite well!

After seeing all the pictures and personal viewings of what the Rage broadheads can do. Also after reading and watching the Drury Team use them and see the damage and the distance the bucks go after the shot I have decided to give them a shot next season for sure. My quiver will not only be carrying my Strykers, but also the Rage 2 Blade Broadhead.

I just shot one last night into a broadhead target and now I'm overly convinced. The 2 blade opened up instantly and left a perfect 2 inch cut into the foam. The head also hit right on the 2 inch by 2 inch dot that I was aiming for. Just an all around awesome broadhead!
