HuntnMa
Had some buddies come down to Florida to hunt one of the W.M.A.'s near by, so between getting them settled and just hanging out, i was already worn out, lol...i slept in my truck in line the first night...this weekends hunt started off about the way the last one did, lol.....I had this great plan to go in to the area another way, so after my hour walk, i get to the creek and i can't cross...the water was knee deep the first step down and i had 20 yds. to go, lol....there was no way, i'm a chicken...well i backtracked and found an area to cross...I had a hen come in and i talked with her for about 20 minutes, but she was alone..then later that day, i had another answer me , but no gobbles....It was a nice day. Then Sat. morning, i was going to go back to the area i wanted to go to in the first place, but i really didn't want to do the walk, so when i called fl.huntress, she told me to go to her deer hunting area, so i did.Got in there, saw some nice sign from the previous day, so i started my hunt, hooted, nothing, lol.....it was still kinda darkish, so i waited a lil while, then i did a flydown, then about 5 minutes later, i heard a hen flying down, i responded, she started cutting, yelping, purring, you name it , she was doing it, so i did it back to her....well that only ticked her off even more....we went back and forth for about 20 minutes, i mean just intense calling back and forth...like i told a friend, she said things to me that would make a man blush, lol.....i figured if nothing else it might get a gobblers attention...then i heard it.....Balalalalaaaaaaaa....so i backed off just a tad on my calling, they were both coming in, i could hear the leaves and twigs right on the other side of this palmetto patch but never saw them...the gobble i hear is walking away from me, so i got agressive again, it didn't work, they were still going away from me, so as quietly as i could , i got up and hoofed it south and cut west....hit the call again and they both responded, but i still wasn't close enough, so i went another 30 or 40 yds. and i called again.....this time they were right there, within 50 yds. of me....i looked for a tree to sit down by and i saw this one, had moss all around the bottom, then i remembered the chiggers from last weekends hunt, so i said no, it's not worth it, lol....i got in between a cedar and a palm tree that was laying over, not the best postion, had no time to do nothing to conceal myself but it worked...about 5 minutes later i saw him, 15 yds. in front of me,he looked right at me, clucked, i thought i was busted , but i wasn't, he took a couple of steps and stopped, i decided , yes, i'm taking him and i shot, he dropped....The end 15.2 lbs. 1'' spurs 7 1/8 '' beard Used my new Copper call that Andy Kaiser made for me.He brought it down with him as a gift, which was so sweet...he is a real good guy, really, lol.....i really enjoyed the time we got to hang out....and this call is my new secret weapon This hunt went on for about an hour , it was pretty darn intense, sure made for a great hunt in the end.Never did hear that nasty mouthed hen after my shot, lol..... My bird where he laid me and my bird my bird and call where he laid(close up) the back of my call I AM DONE, WOOHOOOOOOOO.....but i 'll be out there every hunt i have, well had, i'm bring a couple of my old friends out this coming weekend...so i'll just call... I'm never done as long as the turkeys are in season....I'll always go with someone.... I would take a kid but i don't know any that want to go, so i'm taking my friend from MD. and our other friend, neither one of them have ever gotten an Osceola and the one has never even turkey hunted to my knowledge, so i'm i'll be out there with them this coming weekend...fri.,sat.and sun. Come to think of it, the two of them together is like bringing kids, lol....a couple of big kids.
