Covehnter
At 7:27am on the Georgia opener i was able to roll another longbeard up into a ball of feathers, a whole 1 minute after his toes were on the ground!! Did my homework on the public land last week in order to be in the mix on Saturday morning. Friday afternoon i was able to watch a lone gobbler flyup at 60 yards on the same tree he used the past 2 mornings. My girlfriend decided to tag along for her first hunting experience cause she realized that in order to see me during spring she needed to learn about this hunting thing. Opening morning we settled in extra early due to the full moon and me wanting to set up an Ameristep blind to insure she was comfy. The bird blew our hats back at 7:21am and with a few soft tree yelps he was approaching the lone hen decoy at 7:26 to meet the #6s. She was able to video the entire thing start to finish. The surprise came when i approached the ole boy to see he had 3 beards and nice 1 3/16" hooks!! It was another incredible opening morning in the peach state! Bird: 19.5 lbs 9 1/2, 5 3/4, and 4 7/8 inch beards 1 3/16 and 1 1/8 inch hooks Couple pics:

We all know better than anything weaselin' its way between me and a good spring morning chasin' longbeards!! She's catchin' on quick!! And i'm gonna have to get an order form from ya cause late last year a combination of a long bicycle ride on public land, a hard gobblin' turkey, steep ridges, and 90 degree temps . . . . somehow that good wearing short bill hat became yet another piece of my turkey hunting attire unintentionally left for the turkeys.
