the one
I was telling a friend of mine about the hunters in my club. And the tracking job that we were having. He told me that he was having the same problem with Big Bucks’. He asked me what was I shooting I said a 06. He gave me at that time what looked like a 50 cal. bullet it was a 180 grain 06. He said he likes to use a 200 grain but they are hard to find. I took the 180 and the following week up walked Mr. Big I pulled the shoot and hit him high just above the stomach but just below the spine. He dropped like a ton of bricks the next thing I noticed he was getting up. He ran into a thicket. It took us about 45 min. to find him once we started looking I waited about 3 hours. But if it was not for the missile that my friend gave me I don’t know. To this day the only bullet I shoot is a Winchester 180 grain. Shoot placement is everything don’t get me wrong. I have not had a deer travel over 50 yards when hit with this caliber of bullet in the right location. I have friend that use smaller calibers rifle that OK smaller calibers work just as well you just have to track a little longer most of the time. That’s ok to it just help me fine tune my tracking skills.
