lil hunter
I noticed yesturday that there is a big hole in my old camo pants(bought last spring) so now i need to go get a new camo outfit. What pattern do you guys wear for turkeys? My old stuff was Advantage Timber, but I'm probably gonna change that this time. Is the reg. HD good for spring gobblers? NY911Bowhunter
Re: What camo pattern do you wear? Advantage Timber seems to really "disappear" into the woods, I think it may be a big mistake to change. But if you must, go with the HD Green for spring gobblers. Chrud
Re: What camo pattern do you wear? Hardwoods Green HD is THE spring turkey camo pattern. Vests and shotguns are usually offered in that pattern. Hardwoods Green HD is probably the best pattern for spring turkeys, but a lot of it depends on the season. Last year I had the first week in Wisconsin for turkeys, mid April. Hardwoods HD would have been a better choice that Hardwoods Green HD as it was still really brown and grey. Timber is a good "in between" pattern though, it's sort of a cross between Hardwoods HD and Green HD, as there is a lot of brown like Hardwoods HD and a tiny bit of green, but not nearly as much as Green HD. What is it like by you during turkey season? What I did was describe my area. Usually the first two weeks are Hardwoods HD, then Timber for a week or two and then Hardwoods Green HD the rest of the way. I keep several outfits of each pattern. I get my turkey vests and turkey guns in Hardwoods Green HD, but Hardwoods HD and Timber are probably the most versitle for early gobblers and Green HD later on. Strut10
Re: What camo pattern do you wear? Lil.........Depends on your background and the time of year (early season....browner & grayer..........late season greener). I have outfits of Advantage, Advantage Timber, Hardwoods 20-200, Hardwoods HD Green and even some Brownleaf (that's older than you are!!!! ). I mix and match all of them depending upon where I'm hunting and what the predominant background calls for. If I were going to buy one outfit to do it all......I would get either Hardwoods HD Green or original Hardwoods 20-200. But that's for where I hunt. She even pecked the bottom of my boot! She was never alerted or anything, just went about her business! Yeah I was wearing Realtree Hardwoods HD Green too! Works for me! Mostly any camo will work! wtnhunt
Re: What camo pattern do you wear? Have not ever had any luck with calling turkeys in on morning hunts, but have snuck up on a few, dont think it has been because they were seeing me. Mostly all the stuff I wear is advantage timber or hardwoods. My parka is in old breakup and I do wear it on cool days. Advantage timber here is about the most versatile pattern still. Early season it's browns and greys and as spring green up progresses I wear more green. I'll mix and match with both. I have some MO, Advantage Timber, and some All Purpose RT that's older than Strut's Brownleaf.

I use a combo of RealTree (20-200), Mossy Oak, and military stuff. I am a firm believer that mix and match camo works even better then all one pattern.
