cinch314
The last cover of Vogue magazine, featuring LeBron James and Fay Wray is considered very controversial and racist? Here's a link to the story, so yall can read more on it. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/7955740/Am-I-supposed-to-be-mad-about-LeBron?MSNHPHCP>1=39002
Dawg
Well............................here is my thinking on issue's like this. I am from Jasper, Tx., some of you might remember back in 1998 here in Jasper there was a man by the name of James Byrd, who was an black man,who was chained to the back of a pick-up truck by three white men and drug over a mile down the road. Sadly Mr. Byrd was killed. This IS and WAS a racist thing no doubt. A picture with a black man holding a white woman does NOT come across as a racist thing to me. I am in no wise a racist person, but it really chaps my hind quaters when people want to jump at any and every opportunity and holler "RACISM". Jasper is ate up with people like this and probablly always will be until the good Lord comes back and puts a stop to ALL the mess we face in this world. Fact of the matter is, there are people who will not like others......bottom line.....not matter what we say no matter how loud we say it, there are just people like that. It is very sad that it has come to this in our country today, very sad indeed.
camoman1
Not sure what all the hype is about.... obviously the two people in the picture don't see anything wrong about it either. They are both very 'popular' people with images to keep....im sure they wouldnt want to be in a negatively viewed ad.
NS whitetail
some people have to make way too much out of nothing  it's good for publicity and news
stevebeilgard
the job is to sell magazines, and get folks talking. good talk, racist talk, whatever. and, it's working. so, it's a job well done, imho

On one hand you have a bunch of people just trying to stir up pots, on the other, you have the rest of the "sensible" people wondering why those people MUST constantly create all of this DRAMA!!!! From nearly everything I've ever heard about LeBron, he's pretty much a class act, and a guy that gives back a LOT to the community he's from. Maybe some of those "offended" by the cover ought to start looking in the mirror and do something positive for "their" people, rather than creating drama. I believe the ONE biggest problem in strained "race relations" today is for the most part the fault of people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Obama's old minister, Rev. Wright, who are so blindly trying to advance their people that they get completely misguided in what would "really" accomplish their goals. I agree....I think Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson,,etc like to stir the pot a little to much and keep stuff going,,I kind of think they are a little racist.........When I looked at the cover of the magazine I couldnt figure out what the big deal was:confused:And still dont see nothing to make a big deal out of...........I dont care if your black,,white,,green,,red or even purple its time for people bury racism and face the fact that we are all human we all eat,,breath,,bleed and have emotions........The media loves to stir it up too.......... :D

cinch314
Im not racist or at least I dont think I am but another question comes to mind after I started this thread. You know that we have BET tvand the native american channel and all black colleges and all indian colleges and unlimited funds for mexicans, blacks, indians and other races. But if we start an all white college or creat a WET tv (white entertainment tv) then people start holler about race? I dont get it? It is like its ok for other races to have their individual things but when whites try it, we get reamed for it. ?????????????? I hope I worded this question right, I really dont think Im a racist and I darn sure dont what to sound like one, I just what some answers as to why its ok for other races to start individual race things but if whites do it, they scream racists? Pointing out what is obvious to you does not make you racist in my opinion. Sad truth is, as much as some do not want to see it or admit it, reverse discrimination does exist, and those are very clear examples. A list could go on and on of organizations that are ok to support one race and exclude caucasians and others, but if it were turned the other way around it would be considered discrimination, there is a double standard. Dubie
I'm with Cinch on her point. I've often though of starting a Young White Man club, and creating a bunch of ruckus just like those other groups from the other races do. If it would accomplish nothing other then getting people to see how rediculous everyone else is being, it would be worth the effort. I would have finished collage if the government payed for me to go like the natives. I'd have my own business on the go now if they'd hand me free money like they do to the immagrants. Heck, I could even have a comfy government job if it wern't for the fact that over half of the advertised positions specificaly state "Preferance will be given to women and members of visibal minority groups"... Its long past time for all this equality and racisim stuff to be dropped, and just start treating everyone the same.
Master_Chief
All I want is for every "American" to be an "American". Not an Irish-Am, African-Am etc etc. I never have and never will go to Caucasus so there for I am NOT Caucasin. I have to check every form "Other:" then put American in. I do NOT like heritage months. You are either American or not. Most people that hyphenate their race have never been to the country named in the first part of the hyphenated race. I don't know why your skin has to be black to be an African-American. I doubt Gary Player subscribes to that theory. I did spend 23 years of my life defending the right to live in this country as an American but I also spent the same number of years defending your right to leave if you don't like it here. So instead of ranting for another hour (which I could and probably should) I will cease and desist as I wish the race trouble makers would do the same. cinch314
Its just ridiculous all the hype over racial issues. It goes back to the old saying "Why cant we all just get along?" It's breaking down our society. All the fighting and issues. God created all of us equal so why doesnt everyone follow that example?
buckee
Racism is so stupid. I'm of Irish decent and my wife is dutch. That means we have an inter-racial marriage, but no-one has ever said boo about it, just because we both look the same colour. Racism is all hog-wash:rolleyes:
