lil hunter
when you drive 100 miles, planning to spend 1000+ dollars, and the store has every gun in the world except the one you want? Yup, it happened to me. I went to Whittaker guns in Owensboro KY this morning, which is pretty much the only place I'll buy a gun, due to their selection and prices. Today I had my heart set on a Rock River Arms standard length A2, in the .223 Wylde. They had a whole wall of AR's, in 2 rows. Unfortunately, they didn't have the one I wanted. I could have gotten a good deal on the same gun in an A4, ($800) but I really want an A2, because I don't wanna spend a couple hundred bucks on a scope for it also. They also had the A2 with a stainless barrel, but it was incredibly heavy compared to any of the guns without that, so I passed on it as well. For those of you who are a little smarter than me, what would be the difference between a Rock River std. A2, and the same thing from Armalite? They did have one from armalite, and it looked identical, but everything on it rattled. I know a fair amount about these guns, just not so much about how they are put together. I noticed that none of the Rock River guns had any rattle in them, but several of the other brands did. Is this just because someone didn't turn a couple screws tight enough of the other brands, or is there just that much of a difference in quality? wtnhunt
Hey Tim, might check with Krista at RB precision. She can get you pretty well any rock river AR with a good price, you just have to have it shipped to an ffl. ZooBear
What parts rattled? R.R, Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt all make "good" ARs.
lil hunter
What parts rattled? R.R, Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt all make "good" ARs. The handguard rattled on most of them. Some worse than others. I remember on a few the upper and lower recievers fit loosely, and could also rattle some.
