Chrud
I know Dodge switched from Intrepid last year, can't remember to what. But here is a good angle picture of Newman's car. Doesn't that front end really resemble the Monte Carlo?

Randyman
Re: New Dodge Bodies I believe that Nascar uses a common template for all of the makes to keep things even, so they pretty much have to look similar.
Chrud
Re: New Dodge Bodies NASCAR uses templates for measurements. The bodies a pretty different. The Monte Carlo, and now Dodge, have an indented front end near the head lights. The Fords are pretty round on the whole front end. Here are some pictures of each... 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo 2004 Ford Taurus 2004 Dodge Intrepid You can see from the '04 Dodge to the '05 (different model) that the front end is a lot more like the '04 Monte Carlo. VABuckSlayer
Re: New Dodge Bodies The new Dodge is a Charger and hopefully Wallace and Newman will take them to the front! The middle of the cars are all basically the same. It's the front nose and deck lid that are different. The front of the Dodge does look very similar to the Chevy and the deck lid is similar to the Ford. Best of all worlds I guess! Eric

VermontHunter
Re: New Dodge Bodies [ QUOTE ] aren't hemispherical heads banned in nascar [/ QUOTE ] I think this is actually the reason why Dodge left NASCAR in the first place..the Hemi was far to dominate, and nascar banned the Hemi to try and even the playing field, but I could be wrong and if I am I'm sure I'll be corrected in a quick fashion.... spyderpancake
Re: New Dodge Bodies Basically the only difference in the Intrepid and the Charger are the front air dam, the B-pillar and window behind it, and the decklid and tail end. I have heard that some Dodge teams didn't even have to put new bodies on their cars, just modify a little. I think they will be tough this year, with drivers like Newman, Kahne, Rusty, and McMurray. Gotta say though, the monte carlo is the only one that slightly resembles its production counterpart.
Randyman
Re: New Dodge Bodies I say until Dodge can put the caliber of drivers behind the wheel that Chevy has, it doesn't matter what the front end looks like or what is under the hood! [/ QUOTE ] I agree to an extent, but there is a reason everybody and their brother isn't driving a Cup car. I don't believe you could put an average driver in one of the top Cup rides and get the same results. JMO
spyderpancake
Re: New Dodge Bodies I am a chevy man, i pull for Earnhardt and Harvick, but i think Ryan Newman is one of the best racers out there. He is a true wheelman. Ability-wise, i don't think Dodge or Ford drivers are inferior to the Bowtie boys.
ParrotHead
Re: New Dodge Bodies Hey - does that thing have a Hemi in it? Do a search on google for 2005 Dodge Charger and take a look at what Dodge has put out - then look at the cross-bred Dodge/Chevy/Ford that NASCAR is calling the Charger. Might as well change the name from NASCAR to IROC - all the same templates, all the same looks.
