8ptbuckpa
i have to definately say the east but particularly the northeast most is woods and lots of woods where the deer can get lost. Brad
Randy
Hard to say, I can go out today and kill a few deer in WI but, I have nowhere to compare it with yet. I would imagine that after you get used to a certain way of hunting and having to change because of terrain, laws, ect.. each area would be a new challenge. HUNTINGMAN
I have not hunted deer out west but I would say it would be tough with a bow concidering the open terain, looks like it would be hard to get close to.
toddyboman
you mean to just kill a deer........Or kill a decent buck or what.... To just kill a deer I think one could go just about anywhere a kill a deer....Deer have become pretty well populated all over
sskybnd
id have to agree with toddyboman whitetail have pretty much moved into most states, but i would have to say the north western states like oregon, and washington would be the hardest to kill a whitetail being i dont think they have any there yet. i beleave they have blacktails. RangerClay
A lot of this depends on the area of your state that you hunt. Let me give you an example. Here in NY I hunt the fringe of the Adirondacks and central NY. In my Adirondack treestand I logged about 40-50 hours and I saw only 2 deer. Then when I hunted the farmland of central NY I saw about 20 deer on opening day alone. After that I saw about 10-15 per day. I'm sure each state has a tough hunt area and a high density area. stevebeilgard
i think the hardest part of hunting today, anywhere, is gaining access. outfitters and hunt clubs pay more than the average guy makes, so puts most hunters out of business. that leaves only public land. since the west has most of the public land, the west is the easiest to hunt. so, it's not really the hunting that's hard, it's finding a place TO hunt

I'd agree. Whitetails are about as keen as they come, give them open terrain, and they get even tougher.

Shawn
i've only hunted here in the northeast so i pretty much have some basis for a comparison.
Guest ckcranch
Like others have said, it depends on what part of a particular region you are hunting. I have only hunted deer in west Texas, eastern Mississippi, and different parts of Louisiana. I am from southwest Louisiana and of all the places I've deer hunted, it is the hardest to kill deer here. There is just not very good soil here to support a quality deer population, and the deer that we do have, have been hunted so hard for so long that it seems that it is just in their DNA to be nocturnal.
