wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. I shoot a short barrel winchester shotgun, I prefer the short barrel, works for me. Winchester used to make an 18 inch barreled short turkey special.
Leo
I wouldn't go shorter than 24 inch. 26 inch is probably the most flexible. 30 inchers pattern a larger variety of stuff very well but are tough to hunt with. Yes you can get tight patterns out of stubby guns but in my experience they aren't nearly as forgiving as the longer barrels. It takes some serious load and choke experimentation to accomplish. A 26inch barrel with an extended choke is what I'd recommend.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
My Turkey gun has a 22 inch barrel and with the choke is about 24. Carries like a feather but kicks like a bee stung mule.
the one
I like the longer barrel for better pattern for longer shoots. I shoot an 30" with choke 32". Have taken turkeys at 60 yards.
13littleones
Any barrel will work with a good choke. Then again, I have shot alot of birds with a MOD. barrel back in the days.
Ethan Givan
I have a 28 inch barrel on both of my guns but any length will work as long as you have a good choke and load combination. Some guys like a short 22 inch barrel because it is lighter and easier to move around in the brush. A 26 inch barrel is a good all-around length.
