natethebowhunter
i have a low area that i think i could make a sufficient watering hole but im not sure exactly how to do it. How deep should i dig it and how big? Does it have to be at the very lowest part of the property or can it just be in a valley? Some help please? Some help please? You do not have to go real deep with it, and yes a valley between a couple hills can make a good water hole. Made one for my cows a few years back in my front pasture, basically just pushed out the grass and top layer from the area where I planned to build up my levee and dug very little in what would end up being the middle of the water hole. Took fill from the top of one of the hills and got it to the level I wanted it. It is not real big, but during the summer the cows and horses do get in it and get wet, they drink from it year round some too even though they have a water trough nearby. Thinking about extending that little hole a bit further down and making it a nice little pond.
