Strut10
Me & the boy rolled out early today and spent some time running around the Strut10 Ranch listening for gobblers. First stop was the ridgetop behind my dad's house. We drove the Jeep up a gaswell road then got out and hoofed another 400 yards or so to the top. First gobble came from the same tree where there's always a bird or four every year. Today there were two that were talking. Also heard a couple hens in the trees down off the side of the hill. So there was a little time left before flydown so we ran back down to the Jeep and drove down and across the valley and up on the next top. We parked the Jeep and as we were getting out there was a nice ringneck rooster sneaking along some pine trees. We started walking down along a field edge to a listening spot when we heard a hen fly down into the field in the valley to our left. Started looking and found 3 gobblers in full strut in the field, about 10 hens and another bird gobbling that was underneath the hill from us (in the same field as the others) but out of sight. as we were sneaking along the woods looking down over at the turkeys, a ringneck hen exploded out og the woods edge and flew over by where we'd seen the rooster. We listened to the turkeys and watched them until it looked like they might be working up over the hill to our location. That's when we beat feet back to the Jeep and left. All tolled......at least 6 gobblers this morning and (hopefully) a nesting pair of pheasants. WAY cool!!

Guest itownhunter
Spent my first morning out Saturday. Had 3 gobbleing in the tree within 100 yards of where I sat down. After flydown they didn't make a sound. Wind made it hard to tell thier exact location but I'm pretty sure the were close.
snapper
I've been out a few times...seeing some birds, but they aren't very vocal here yet. Neighbor just plowed his field next to me (sooner than usal) been seeing the birds out there feeding...only one strutter that I seen. Looks like I'm not making it out this year for the youth season...pudds boy (his last year as a youth) has a bass torn. the same weekend.
