PremiumBeef
I had a fast start to the 2008 season. I have been watching the gobbler for about 2 weeks on the trail cam and he was a real strutter. A friend and I got in the blind this morning about 6:15 and waited for the birds to wake up. My friend was filming and I was doing the calling/shooting. We heard the birds about 100 yards away in the dark and as daylight was coming I began to give the bird some soft tree yelps, and he kept hammering back. When fly down came 3 hens flew out first and landed from 5-15 yards away in the small wheat plot in front of the blind. After about 3-4 minutes we saw a red head sneaking into the plot through a plum thicket and the show was on. We were able to get about 5 minutes of footage of the birds flying in and then the gobbler strutting/gobbling in the plot before one hen started to act alert. I nailed him at about 20 yards with some Winchester high velocity #5's and the show was over. The bird had a 8 3/4 inch beard, weighed 20 pounds, and had 3/4 inch spurs. I will try to post pics and a link to the video soon.
