craig mack
Went out yesterday on the river for some eyes. Water temp is still too cold. We ended up with two, I caught a 18 incher and my buddy Dan caught a 22 incher that was pretty fat. Sorry no pics. Next time I will bring my camera. We caught them right by Joe Louis Arena. There were a ton of boats out there also, I guess everyone had to itch the itch.
Guest Andrea
Hope you get more next time. Do they put up a good fight? We don't have those down here......
muggs
Hope you get more next time. Do they put up a good fight? We don't have those down here...... They sort of fight Andrea but not really. When they're in a river they'll fight a little harder but when you hook them in a lake they really don't put up much of a fight. But they taste really good. It's basically how you can tell you have a walleye on your line, vs. a lot of thumping. A walleye bite commonly feels like just additional weight on your line. It's sometimes hard to detect a bite from bumping the bottom. I've had some walleye smack a lure, and some pup up a pretty good fight once they see the surface or bottom of the boat, but generally, they just come right in. I plan on doing a lot more walleye fishing this summer as I don't have much scheduled so far and the kids are finally old enough to be on their own a little. RangerClay
Hope you get more next time. Do they put up a good fight? We don't have those down here...... Walleyes put up a fair fight. One thing you have to be prepared for is when the fish see's the boat he will dive hard for the bottom of the lake. They all do it and you have to be prepared for it. craig mack
I'm hopeing by the end of the week the water temp will be warmer. We should be able to go out in catch our limit when that happens. Walleye are very tasty.
Randy
The walleyes are spawning here already, I think by the end of next week they ought to be heading back to the lakes and really hungry for a jig and a fathead!!
