redbeard Posted April 7, 2008 Report Share Posted April 7, 2008 Been without my ol' Betsy Darlin' now on a week, ain't never missed so much turkey huntin' in all me born'd days but since I sold my fancy V8, I guess I can expect as much outta an ol' 83 F100 with dang near 300 thousand miles on 'er. Seems Ford has to order parts for it, from Cuba or Timbuktwo evidently, cuz I still ain't got a call. If it whatta Will's turn to take a bird, I'd be woodz bound on my Harley...........only savin' grace was it rained this weekend and I got these calls made............ Rhino Posted April 7, 2008 Report Share Posted April 7, 2008 Sorry you missed playing in the mud like I did this past weekend with my son Redbeard. Wasn't pretty. Nothin gobbled Sat. at all and Sunday mornin found us calling to an old loud mouth bird that wouldn't budge from the spot right below his roost for a couple of hours before hens shut him up. Had to use a dang 4wheeler to get to where I needed to go hunt. My cart just wouldn't make it in that mess. Passed a Bad Boy stuck in the mud on the way in. I hate having to use those loud dang contraptions to get to where I need to go turkey huntin. Good lookin table full of turkey calls. Looks like you found a way to enjoy something related to turkey huntin anyway. Hope you make it to the woods this weekend with your buddy you told me about. After that, hope to see ya soon in my neck of the woods. Looks like round 2 for my son this coming weekend if the weather man is wrong right now. the one Posted April 8, 2008 Report Share Posted April 8, 2008 Calls look nice red. Went hunting this past weekend could not wait to get to Camp. I left work early on Friday to beat the rain. Arrived at camp at 4:00pm for afternoon hunt I looked over the area that I wonted to hunt. Gave a couple of yelp waited gave 2 Min then yelp a couple more times nothing ok coast is clear while walking to my spot. What the @#$%^& three hens two toms behind TALL PINES tress. Hade tent, decoys and chair in hand guess were shoot gun was you guessed it on my shoulder. I was just 20 yards from the birds when they took off. If only I would have hade that Shoot Gun in my hand if only. like Rhino said the rain keep the birds hidden for the rest of the weekend. So if you wont to go get some birds I know just the place.
