PotashRLS
12lb Jake 21lb Tom - The kid I took out.....I didn't realize it till we got out hunting(I missed orientation the night before because of my clinical class)that the shells my kid brought were Low Brass #6 Game Loads. He missed his first bird at 20 yards twice at 7:00 am and killed this bird at 7:50 am from 16 yards. 20lb Tom....her smile says it all A Wore Out Little Hunter in the Afternoon:D 13lb Jake Most of the group of kids from the first morning What a sweet weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Our first annual Learn To Hunt program with our Hunter Education students. The kids got 4 Toms and 2 Jakes out of 12 kids hunting. We put one mentor with one kid and their parent if they want. We tracked down landowners that would let us on their property and away we went. Some other kids missed so most were put on at least one bird within 30 yards. They had a great time regardless. Thanks to all our mentors and the landowners that helped to make the event happen. We have another group going this weekend, but the weather is going to turn bad. One girl learned that she has "Buck Fever" and can't pull the trigger. In two days of hunting the same piece of property, her mentor put 18 Toms and 31 Jakes inside 35 yards. She finally took a shot Sunday Afternoon with help from her Dad.....she hit a tree:o. She's a cool kid. Hope everyone enjoys the pictures. PotashRLS
2nd Weekend Update. The kids and their mentors put 5 more birds on the ground the 12th and 13th. They didn't go out the 1st morning because it snowed 3 inches overnight and turned to rain. It was the absolute worst weather possible with lows around 20 and highs in the 30s. The wind gusted to 40 with rain and sleet. The total was 11 birds out of 21 kids. What an awesome experience. Many of the parents are now going to take up turkey hunting because their kids showed so much interest. One Dad went out and bought his son a new youth model shotgun the next week. It was fun for everyone.
bluelund79
That is really outstanding work. If you need volunteers for next year, shoot me a pm, I would be more thatn happy to help out any way that I can. 8 more years until my son will be in those types of pictures! Congratulations to both them and you Sir. Eric

Congratulations to both them and you Sir. Eric Thanks for the interest but I would feel a bit guilty with Gas approaching $3.50/gal. to have you drive up north of Green Bay to help out. Your generosity is appreciated.
bluelund79
Its no problem, I am moving to Baraboo this next month. I also have family up in Green Bay, so I would have a place to stay. Seriously, if you need another person to help out, just shoot me a pm and I'll see about my work schedule. I am an Army Recruiter, so time off isn't easy, but to help out kids get into the woods instead of the streets, count me in!
