Guest Andrea
Tim landed in Kansas around 2. ( I wasn't at home when I got the text) He had to drive 2.5 hours after that so should be arriving in roughly 30-35 minutes.
aksheephuntress
...Tim arrived at camp...reporting real cool weather and wind....too late in the day to hunt....but, he drove around and saw a few birds... -reports that the colder weather seems to have them hunkered and slowed down....the weather calls for cold and breezy the next few days.... -We're praying for you, Tim!.... Tim Andrus
Ok, Havent got the pics yet, But heres the story........ started cold as was posted earlier few gobbles in the distance. Gene came to pick me up and try another area. We got to the ranch and were greeted by a gobbler all fired up. As he moved I tried to get in front of him Thankfully I had Gene with me who knows the lay of he land there. I probably wouid have spooked that bird if I was by myself. Well, after 2 attemts to get a head of the bird the rancher drove into the pasture we were in. I thought this hunt is done, next thing you know the rancer fires up his chain saw and the gobbler hammers back. As Gene said he was so close when he gobble it blew our hats off!!!! Well he was close and we set up ,did a few light yelps. He hammered back and in a minute showed up in front of me at 11 steps!!!!! The load of Winchesters #6s closed the deal! He ended up being a 20lb Rio , 10 inch beard with 1 inch spurs Im going to try a get som pics up tonight , right now its luch time and the back at for number 2...I hope. Thanks to my trusty text messengers, Todd, Andrea, Kathleen and Steve. this first pat was a success!!!!! Thanks everyone for you support!! buckee
Way to go on that Gobbler Tim. He's a beauty. Got this at 3:30 PM, but I was out of town. Quiet out, with no gobbles, but I'm extremely happy with that bird this morning. Anything else is just a bonus !
