WaCoyote
Traded out some work for a Kel Tec 9mm last week. I probably would never buy one just because they are so cheap it makes me wonder if they are any good, but for a trade I figured what the heck. I actually come out way ahead on the deal financially so even if it's a turd I won't be too mad but wanted to know if anybody has any experience with this brand. Let me know how they hold up. Thanks. johnf
I heard they had problems when they first came out, but that's been fixed and they are a very reliable gun. They aren't the most comfortable gun to shoot, but they are very good for what they are, a cheap, very concealable gun.
Strut10
I worked with one Kel-Tec once. In a word......... "turd". You pretty much hit it on the head. Worst trigger I've ever pulled.....including the cap guns I got from the 5 & Dime when I was a kid. I'd sure hate to have to base my personal security on one of them. Rem308
Have you guys checked out the new Kel-Tec PF9? I have one and I am very pleased with it. I was skeptical at first, but a friend has one and shooting it was enough to convince me. It's not nearly as comfortable to shoot as any of the larger frames out there, but it is so concealable and mine hasn't had a single problem feeding or ejecting. From what I've read online, the earlier ones did have SEVERAL problems, but Kel-Tec says they've corrected these. I have put a few hundred rounds through my PF9 and no problems. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine.
WaCoyote
Thats the one I traded for. Yes Strut the trigger is LOL REDICULOUS. But for a plinker it'll hopefully be fine. Even 40 year old still like new toys.

As long as you're plinking at a herd of barns at close range it oughta be good to go. I couldn't hit crap with the one I was shooting. WaCoyote
Hey strut while your around. I picked up a 45/70 this last week. Does the OTPG give that any love? Getting ready to sight it in today for the spring bear season.

Getting ready to sight it in today for the spring bear season. I've got a 45/70, too. An OTPG member may give a 45/70 all the love he or she wants. The organization, however, gives no recognition to the round. Metallic, centerfire magnum cartridges ONLY. BTW......what's a guy with a .350 Rem need a 45/70 to shoot at bears for?? WaCoyote
BTW......what's a guy with a .350 Rem need a 45/70 to shoot at bears for?? Sorry strut didn't see that last time. Wanted a beater to throw on the handlebars of the ATV. The .350 is too nice for that. I use the .350 in the fall.

WaCoyote
I did shoot it last weekend and wasn't impressed. If you don't snug your pinky up under the mag firmly it detaches after every shot. It failed to go into battery twice also. This may be just my pistol though not necesarily indicative of every Kel Tec, although this one is only 8 months old. It's got healthy recoil due to it's light weight and I think folks with big hands may not like it because of that. I didn't check accuracy but we could hit a steel plate at 15-20 yards or so with no prob. All in all it's a plinker. I wouldn't consider using it as a carry peice or home defense gun. Hoosierbuck
I have looked at the .380's for a while as a pocket carry defense gun, but just didn't like the reviews...but now have a Ruger LCP on it's way to fill that slot. This gun is getting good reviews. HB

TexasDeerHunter
I have never owned one , but have heard from some well informed sources that you don't want to trust your life on one.
WaCoyote
Thats a fact. I wouldn't pay for one. The thing is what it is. A plinker. Defense gun? No way.
