EKYhunter
Anyone have any experience with these guns? I'm wanting another 3.5" semiauto. Browning has reduced the Gold lineup but I did notice the Silver in the Browning catalog last night. I like its looks but have never held one. Any of you guys shot one, particularly with turkey loads?
EKYhunter
Anyone even looked at one of these?
WaCoyote
I've looked and want one bad. I didn't realize they came in 3 1/2 though. I was thinking about one for pheasants and whatnot. I can't remember the difference between it and the Gold but there are some minor differences between the two. It is a sweet looking gun and Brownings seem to fit me perfectly. I own 3 BPS shotguns and when I grow up I want to get a semi someday. You ought to PM Leo. He's a Browning guy and seems to be "in the know" on the Browning line. Leo
Well I've looked at and handled the Silver. I thought it was a fine shotgun. The one I handled, definitely had that Browning fit and finish they are known for. Besides the obvious aesthetic difference of the humpback receiver this gun shares the same gas system design as the Gold and Winchester SX#s. So it's bound to be a very very fast auto. It does not have the speed loading feature nor the manual magazine cut off the Gold has. This is not a big deal to upland bird hunters or turkey hunters but for waterfowl these features really shine in the duck blind. I don't think you can go wrong with the Browning Silver. It's a darn nice gun. It does appear that Browning is phasing out the Gold as there are already more Silver models available than Golds. Rumor has it, Browning is cooking up the next phase Gold that is gonna blow everyones socks off. I wouldn't wait for that though. If you like how the Silver handles, points and shoots for you. Get it. Thanks for the plug WaCoyote. I guess someone noticed I'm a Browning fan.
EKYhunter
Thanks Leo and WaCoyote. I've never handled or looked at the Silver, execpt in the catalog. I like the looks of the humpback design though. It's a Browning so that tells you something. It does sadden me to see the Gold line phased out. I'll be trying to find a Silver so I can check it out. I'm sure that a 3.5" Silver, teamed up with a Rhino tube, and some Nitro H517 3.5" 2 7/16 ounce straight 7 would be certain death.
