wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Dont really think a facemask is needed, unless your face is shiny and really white. I keep a beard and dont think deer really see my face. I never use one for deer hunting aside from the headnet from my bugsuit early season when the mosquitoes are bad. buckee
Re: Camo Welcome to the Realtree forums comppro. I always wear a facemask. As far as a backpack goes, I wear a pretty good size fanny-pack, that holds all my little odds ans ends. The only time I use my backpack is if I'm setting up stands. Rayzorp
Re: Camo Welcome to the forums!! It all depends on the temperature during your season. Bow sean for me can be between okay warm to frezzing cold, so I keep a fleece and nylon mask. It definitely helps. I use to carry a fanny pack, but I tried a backpack, never went back. I can carry alot more easier, when I get to my spot, I just use it as a pillow or put it aside..
dogdoc
Re: Camo I usually don't wear a facemask unless I am bowhunting. Early season I use camo makeup and as it gets colder I switch to a facemask. I always carry a backpack--binos, grunt call, rattling bag, soda pop, lunch and snacks, a book, knife--just a little big of everything. todd
wtnhunt
Re: Camo Early season I usually also carry a back pack. Later on when it is cool enough to wear my parka I dont usually take the backpack. My parka has a lot of pockets, and it is easier to just stuff them, unless I am carrying extra stuff with me taking my daughter out. As far as extra ammo, I usually carry a partial box of shells in my parka pocket in the plastic in the box holding them so they are not loose in your pack or jingling around in your pockets. Sam16
Re: Camo I would highly recommend that u wear a facemask. Your head is the one thing u move the most to scan the area for deer, and if a deer ever catches movement they will always stare into ur eyes and they will look at ur face. I never enter the woods without a facemask. I also always wear a backpack to hold my safety belt, rattling back, grunt, license, knife, scents, scent away spray, extra gloves, etc.
lil hunter
Re: Camo I never wear a facemask while deerhunting. As long as you stay still, the mask will make no difference(in my opinion, and experience) as far as a pack, you probably don't have enough gear to need a backpack. I use something thats basicly like a camo purse. Kinda like this one Thats not the exact one I use, but it's about like it. It's just right for carrying about 5 shells, a grunt tube, a can call, and some scent products.
