Guest hunt880au
Recently got into Turkey hunting, going this weekend for the second time, now time to buy a shotgun. Anyway, I have no idea about whether this is a good deal or not (looks ok by the searches I have made on the internet), so I thought I would appeal to the masses here for some help; The shotgun is a used Beretta ES100, I believe it is a 24 inch barrel, mostly camouflaged, but not completely. It has one little scratch on the barrel, hardly noticeable and is selling for $499.95. Is this a decent gun to start off with, is the price ok? I greatly appreciate any help in advance. Adjam5
Welcome to the forums:) Turkey hunting Hmmm. What a dang good hobby:D I am not familiar with the Beretta ES100. Most of what Beretta makes in shotguns are semi auto. What size chamber is the gun? Does it take 3" shells? Most likely don't take 3 1/2" You want to hunt turkey with at least 3" loads and with a gun that takes a removable choke to install a extra full of full turkey choke. The Mossberg 835 and the Remington 870 are 2 great shotguns that can be had for under $300 and they are just the ticket for turkey hunting. The 3 1/2" loads give you the capability to shoot accurately out to 40-50 yards for turkey with the right loads. Good Luck.
bluelund79
Adjam speaks some greatness there. However, for the gun you are looking at, that doesn't seem to be a bad deal to be had. Make sure that all of the chokes come with the gun, because that model if not the standard Beretta chokes could be a bear to find good tubes. I thought I had run into that for my Mossberg Silver Reserve O/U until I found out that it runs Beretta/Benelli chokes also. Good Luck iwth your decision...I hunt turkeys with the same Remington 870 that my Dad purchased for me 17 years ago for Hunter's Safety graduation, and it has been through the ringer if you know what I mean. It still shoots great(understatement!) The best advice is to shop around and shoulder the shotguns to see which one fits you best.
