quick question?

Isn't there some sort of rule about brand bashing here?

Just curious, because freaking Wal-Mart gets slammed around here and it's Kosher for some reason.

I could honestly care less one way or the other, but I just have a thing for pointing out double-standards is all. And yes, I realize Wal-Mart is a corporation and not techinically a brand, but I don't think we could all bash Hoyt or some other corp. like that and have it fly.

So what, if any, is the logic behind accusing Wal-Mart as being a fascist regime...other than overt cultural bias of course?

Respectfully,

Muggs Muggsbow

Sorry, but you answered your own question when you said Wal-Mart wasn't a brand. They are the corporation slowly taking over the earth. They are the ginormous department/grocery store chain that is slowly pulling itself away from what America stands for. And squashing the little man in the process. Ironically though....they are turning hunters and fishermen back to the little man for their hunting and fishing needs since they are either no longer carrying guns and ammo or they never have the fishing gear you need.:(:(

We can't bash the maker....just the distributor.;) ( Or lack thereof)

Good answer. Do a search on Target, you will find the complaints on them from a few years back.

So, you're saying the bashing of corporation is a practice Realtree wants on it's forum and is an acceptable one?:o That doesn't sound right.

btw- I don't think Wal-Mart is the only company that has invested a large portion of it's business practices overseas.;)

Actually the real response should be from a moderator with any umph is ... any Degrading Walmart thread will be moved to the politcal room simply cause it is about politics anyhow ... it always is about politics; thats the beef ppl have with WalMart is the impact they have on econmony, or what they "believe"; this imediately should move it to the politcal or religous room ... end of discussion.

Steve

PS not mod bashing for the record I think they all do a great job just think that it would elimate a lot of sorting is all lol

To the original question, I do not know why it is allowed, but I do know that WalMart is the epitome of what is going wrong with this country. WalMart is not the only company, but surely it is the worst. Corporate greed making the top 1% in the company richer and leaving the employees doing the work still able to qualify for food stamps, welfare and Medicaid. They kicked the small businesses to the curb and didn't even blink an eye. Maybe the .com businesses will do the same to WalMart and their like.

............. WalMart is the epitome of what is going wrong with this country.

IMO.........Wal-Mart is what is right with this country.........a dude from Arkansas with a vision and a drive to realize it hits it big. The American Dream, right???

Corporate greed making the top 1% in the company richer......

"Corporate greed" is just a term tossed on middle-class America by a bunch of politicians with an agenda to create class envy. When the lower classes can be convinced that the upper classes don't deserve (or haven't earned) what they've got.............it's a lot easier to implement a stealing (taxes) of the productivity of those who've earned it and redistributing it (entitlement programs) to those who have not.

........and leaving the employees doing the work still able to qualify for food stamps, welfare and Medicaid.

I know a lot of folks who work at Wal-Mart. Nobody has to be a "cart-pusher" forever. There is plenty of room for upward mobility at Wal-Mart if a person's got the drive to achieve it. Wal-Mart managers are not living in cardboard shacks and starving.

The only thing that bothers me about Wal-Mart is that I didn't think of it first. :( Anyone who's upset about wal-Mart making a profit should maybe buy some stock in the company. That way the corporation's successes become your successes. ;)

.:D:D....Hey, well put, Strut...I never thought of it that way....!

-and I appreciate a person who has the guts to think for themselves, and state their opinion in a stong, but respectful way....

-See, guys..."size does matter":D

-he got the big caliber out, and used it well, in my opinion...

-Me???-well, I'm not exactly having a great day, I have a lot on my mind, and I probably didn't need to give any hint of starting a cat fight... I am really sorry, Andrea...

-but:-even though I have never particularly cared for Walmart (?-quality, or lack there-of?...all the stuff we hear of the jobs going overseas??...the impending fear of this country and what we stand for losing it's focus and integrity and identity within the encroaching "machine"...??-I don't know, because I haven't really looked as in-depth as I probably should , to have an educated opinion....

REGARDLESS....-I responded because I felt like Muggs was not being allowed to state an opinion(or, ask a question) without he himself being bashed...

...also- I felt it was maybe a little harsh to tell him to be quiet, in whatever choice of words, especially since it was his thread...

...and, most importantly(in my opinion)....the image of how we conduct ourselves , and exchange views- whether in agreement, or not- is viewed by a mass of people larger than us here participating in this room...

-it's like, how do we want to represent REALTREE ??

(...OK....I promise I won't talk about NUTS....:o:D)

.....anyway- I had logged off earlier to do somemore homeschool, then got Tim's text , came back on and posted it....

-read what has transpired since then, and wanted to at least clarify where I was coming from on mine...

...We all don't share the same views...but let's at least let other people state theirs, and if we must disagree, do it in a nice way?(yeah, I'll tone it down, too- just wanted to say that before anyone else asked me to...:))

-Besides, this country was founded partly on the right to express opinions and question...let's not beat some people up for disagreeing or questioning even our most passionate beliefs...

(remember the Inquisition??....and "McCarthy-ism"?)

-Kathleen

..........the employees doing the work still able to qualify for food stamps, welfare and Medicaid.

Just another random thought..............

Wal-Mart also enables the folks (no matter where they work.....or if they work) who qualify for food stamps, welfare and Medicaid to purchase stuff inexpensively that they may not have had money to afford if they had to buy it all at Mom & Pop stores.

Stood beside three, obviously poorer folks today in the Wal-Mart pharmacy line. They got 3 perscriptions for $4 each.......cash. No perscription insurance. Where else are they gonna do that??
