wtnhunt
Not a fan of tattoos either. Would have to agree with the idea of under my roof under my rules.
Bob LeBlanc
When my daughter suggested that she wanted to get a tattoo, tongue-in-cheek, I reminded her of how sharp all my knives are, and how proficient I am at skinning. On the serious side, I talked to her about how they are permanent...there for life...and unchangeable in any great detail...but I could certainly remove certain aspects with those ever-so-sharp knives, should the need arise... I suggested she may want to consider 'Henna', I think it's called, rather than a permanent tattoo...painless, can be removed / reworked, and is variable...to keep up with the 'sags' in life. She still doesn't have a tattoo, that I am aware, but man-o-man...I'm wearing out my honing stones !!:D Bob
turkeybuster
She is 18, an adult, and her own person. It would not bother me in the least for my kids to get one or two. Could be alot worse than a tat......... I agree.
Jeramie
I understand! Im not a fan either and cant imagine one of my kids getting one. It seems that a lot of people get them just to be inked. Only few get them for the right reason or get something that have meaning enough to ink it on your body for good... Randyman
More than anything i truly believe in the concept of "to each his own". I'm not so perfect as to pretend i should be living another adult's life for them!
sportsman2500
My wife had two when we got married. the first she got when she was 17(she used a fake ID) the other she got after she turned 18 then tried to have it coved up and they guy did a terrible job. now she is going once a month to do a procedure to get it removed. tell her to think what it'll look like when she get old and wrinkly. if the artist does a bad job she can't just wash it off, it's there for good unless she pays like my wife to have it removed. it ends up being a $1000 tattoo!! camoman1
Could not agree more. Free country. Free to get a tatoo, free to pay rent. Along with responsibilities that come along with becoming an adult, there are also the freedoms and decisions that you get to make all by yourself...and besides..its only a tattoo. And with the rent thing....when I turned 18 my folks made me pay rent, which was fine. But i told them i wanted to be treated like a tenant ( within reason obviously). A little ink isnt going to change who she is....
The_Kat
I got my first and only tatoo lasy year, and I'm already tired of it. I agree with the rent thing. Teach her some responsibilty. Too many young kids expect it all on a platter these days.
aksheephuntress
...I never did go through that stage, wanting a tatoo...(although, to tell you the truth...I have recently thought of getting a small, but tasteful tatoo...and a belly- button ring....)...yes, I know that's silly...but- -well, anyway.....there are worse things...and, I feel that there are definitely things to lay the law down about...and other things that are obviously in the category of "young adults searching and trying to express who they are...."...the more a parent dictates their disapproval about that sort of expression....the more they will probably drive their son or daughter to rebel, and " attempt to be different". -As far as living at home...I left home the very next day after I graduated....went to college several states away, and have only been back there twice in 20 years...and only asked my parents for help 4 times......even though, God knows, I could have needed their help so much more... -An 18 year old IS an adult...to be guided, with firm, discerning love...and respect- not dictated to...and we have PLENTY of 18 year olds, and even younger...who have laid their lives down for their country.... -....the flower on top of her foot...now, that sounds very tasteful...(I am happy for you about that, WI2506...)could have been a lot worse, I guess, especially if you had "laid down the law", and not gone with her to go get it done...also, you probably helped her with her wise choice and respectfulness of the tatoo, by your relaying your disproval of the idea to her( opinions and advice are so effective...even if it doesn't seem like the kids are listening to you at the time!) -But, hey....what do I know??...my 3 boys and 2 girls are 12 and under.....I always thought it was supposed to get EASIER when they got to the teenage years?!!?:oLOL:) :D:D:D

JimPic
Nice ink--looks good! I'm betting that hurt a little bit;)
Guest Finn
That looks pretty good and is in a place that won't affect future job options. I don't have so much against a tattoo as going against a parent's wishes. Not sure how strong the argument was for you guys either. Just know I would be upset if I made my feelings known and my kids went against them.
MCH
There are a few things that my kids could do that could get them kicked out at 18.....tats aren't one.
