drkillemquick
Just heard it on the news Lowes will be open here by January 2009!!!! How does it compare to Home Depot??? Cheaper?
toddyboman
Supposable a Lowe's is coming near me too From others I have been in they seem to be a bit more customer friendly. Stores seem to be a bit nicer too.
Jeramie
I prefer Lowes 10/ 1 over home depot. They have a much bigger selection and decent prices. They have big sales too. They operate like Walmart. If it tells you anything, in Tulsa there are 4- Lowes stores and only one Home Depot.

wtnhunt
Like Lowes better too, and it is nice that we got a store closer to us a few years ago. Price wise, there is not usually much difference, but think both stores will price match guarantee.

Ohiobucks
I prefer Lowes as well, not just because of the prices, but the customer service as well. The Home Depot over here by work, you could walk in, wander around aimlessly for 10 minutes, maybe catch a glimpse of a salesperson, and walk out without anyone saying anything to you. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
We also prefer Lowes. I worked at Home Depot one summer, just a temporary job, I tried to help people best I could and would often be running from customer to customer or try and help 2 people at a time, but the people who were regular workers there didn't do a darn thing. I worked in the lumber/building department and it seemed like at least once a day I would get stuck working there by myself, even though there were 3-4 other people there, they would all take lunch or a break of go out for some stupid reason and I would be stuck there by myself helping 10 different people. After visiting other home depot stores I realize this may by the norm around these parts cause their service sucks to.
beagleboy
I guess I'm going to be the bad one of the bunch. The prices are similar but I can never find help everytime I go to Lowe's. Seems like there is not enough employees for the store. I have to walk the entire store just to find someone to help me. Maybe it's just the NY store

Guest Finn
I like the store better, but the customer service at the one in North Carolina was horrible. We didn't have Home Depot there. Seemed they didn't have enough people to help while shopping, and I never went there when I didn't end up at least 5 deep at the check-out. Hope they hire enough people at the one coming to your town.
Chrud
Lowe's is great! There is one in Plover, Wisconsin that I've been to. Huge store, great selection and good prices. We have a $150 gift card to spend there. Never been to a Home Depot, but Menards is horrible. They built one in Antigo a couple years ago. This place is huge. However, I don't think I've seen more than 30 cars in the parking lot. I don't know how they can make money. Not many helpful people their either. aksheephuntress
...Yeah, we have these Mega-Lowes and Home Depots right next to each other, now, in Anchorage, Wasilla, and Fairbanks... ...all of it is so expensive...and interesting what they choose to stock...
