DU_man_84
was sitting watching a few minutes of the Sox baseball game, starting thinking, between all the foul balls, balls that the players throw into the stands after an inning, and the dirty baseballs that get replaced with a fresh one, how much worth of baseballs do you think the MLB goes through a year
OJR
About $1.98! LMBO!!! I have thought the same thing several times and it would probably scare a person as to what the total would be!
rhine16
I've heard a figure before, but all i can tell you is that it is way up there!
toddyboman
I found this.... According to MLB, between five and six dozen are used per game (60-70 balls). Have to have 90 on hand The home team has to have 90 new baseballs on hand for each game. That doesn't mean they'll use them all, but they must have them, just in case. Average life of ball is 6 pitches This is an interesting question. I am not sure if a true average can be reached due to climate and other issues and yet here is what I found on the web through yahoo. "According to Ensley, every major league game begins with six dozen balls. He goes on to explain that the average life of a ball is six pitches. Since most major league games average between 250 and 300 pitches, that would put the ball count at about 40 or 50 balls used per game". About 72 balls According to the MLB: "It says between five and six dozen baseballs are used during each baseball game, as many as 72 balls." Each ball costs about $3-dollars, so that works out to $216-dollars worth of balls for each baseball game. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_baseb... texastrophies
I might be out in left field here (pun intended) but, I would think the average pitches per ball is a lot less than 6. I think they get a new ball everytime the bat touches it, whether it is a hit, foul or whatever. The only thing that may affect my thoughts is if they reuse the balls that get rolled back to the dugout after being tipped or bounced off of the ground. HOYTnMUZZYboy
5 dollar beer is quite the rip off..... but just gotta start pre-gameing b4 you head to the game. There starting to get a lil chincy on the peanuts to if you ask me. Used to be able to get a huge bag for 3 dollars, now you pay 3 dollars and get a bag of peanuts that they give you on a plane. Well that is if the plane has met its inspections lol :D
