WaCoyote
They are basically like mil dot so you have to learn the drop at various ranges. Once you learn by actual shooting any caliber is good with it. I've used it on a 22-250- .223 - and 30-06. Drop is different on all of them so range time is needed. You can't just plop one on a rifle and think your going to hit something at 350- 400 by using the advertised ring. The scope is great. Burris and Leupold have a similar scope which are nice too. Any mil dot scope can be used in the same manner though Good luck
aksheephuntress
...Davet...I have just put a Nikkon Primos BDC scope (3x9x40) on my new .30-06... -there are some Nikkon BDC scopes made just for ML...like the Omega made by Nikon...there is also one for shotguns...maybe that guy telling you that was refering to that one...(if you guys were looking at that particular one...??) bluelund79
AK said it best...According to what I have read, each placement value is set by what caliber you shoot at said zero. Basic starting point is 100 yards for the regular calibers and 200 yards for the Magnums... Omega=Muzzleloader Slughunter=Shotgun w/sabots Primos/Monarch/Buckmaster=rifle Happy shopping....I stick with the NikoPlex on all 4 of my Nikons, and just spend the time at the range instead.... Jorden
The Nikon Monarchs now have the BDC too. They have it two different types: standard if your rifle is sighted in at 100yards, and Magnum if your rifle is sighted in at 200 yards. www.thenewmonarch.com
wtnhunt
With any b-plex or bdc type reticle you will still have to shoot your rifle and see where it hits using the graduated dots or lines. There is data for different loads, but it will not be exact, and will vary from rifle to rifle.
