Orion_70
Does anyone have a recommendation on a gun safe? I've been researching safes for a bit trying to determine which one to get. There's a ton of useless information out there and some that is actually good. I'd rather have recommendations from fellow gun owners on what they use. I'd rather buy American made safes and at least a 36 gun model probably need room to grow though. Any recommendations or information is welcome. wtnhunt
You might want to take a look at this thread http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69545. Been thinking about getting one here lately too. Think I am probably leaning towards a browning. Tominator
I have a Liberty. I guess for fire ratings, it's good to 1,300f for an hour, or something like that? Bugger weighs like 500+ lbs. I can't wait to move that from my basement to the new house when that happens.

snapper
They roll quite nicely on two pieces of pvc pipe...two guys can easily move up to an 800 pound safe. I got three in my basement (6' french doors)...two of them are around the 500-600 mark...the other took 4 guys to stand it up from its back. I like the Liberty/Champion line of safes...but there are alot of good ones out there. Cannon and Fort knox were in the running...but got a better deal on the others. Adjam5
I have a Browning. It weighs 750lbs. Has a Omega Point rating of 1400 degrees for 45 minutes. I am satisfied with my safe... just wish I bought a bigger one:rolleyes: Make sure combination dial has a re locking device in case of attack, body of safe to have a port for electric to feed light and dehumidifier inside safe. Concealed hinges are good too.
Orion_70
After pouring through data, checking out several safes, talking to a couple of locksmiths and some firemen, I'm going with a Sturdy Safe. They seem to have a quality gun safe, thickest steel, and the best fireproofing for the money.
