OJR
Everyone should just remember there is not any such thing as to what is the "maximum" this thing can go to!
wtnhunt
Diesel here was over $4.00 a while back at some stations, and it dropped back down to around $3.88 last week at a few places. Not sure exactly where it is at now, but heard on the radio average is $3.45 for regular unleaded, and diesel average was $4.21. Glad my diesel lawn tractor does not burn much to mow the yard. Texan_Til_I_Die
And in other news... Saudi Arabia announced today that all future plans to expand pumping capacity had been placed on hold indefinitely. According to their Oil Minister, there is no "need" to increase their oil output. jcwa
I filled up my diesel truck last week @ $3.95 gal. It cost me $115.00 to fill up. The funny thing is diesel was always cheaper than gas " that's one reason I bought one" But now it $.30 to $.40 cents more than gas. Go figure. wtnhunt
The explanation I heard on diesel being higher now is due to low sulfur fuels which are supposed to burn cleaner.
hutchies
OJR is right..............No cap to where it stops.........If the oil companies wanted they could shut down right now and start back in a week then where would we be????????? Here is some numbers for ya........this is what we use weekly to add our fuel surcharge at work. http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/oog/info/gdu/gasdiesel.asp
jcwa
The explanation I heard on diesel being higher now is due to low sulfur fuels which are supposed to burn cleaner. I heard that to and the units being down modifying them to produce the new low sulfur grade, was also contributing to the price.
toddyboman
How high......well until we stop consuming so much and MAKE the prices come down.

jcwa
This is what is said in the article. The transition to ULSD is not without substantial costs. The US Government has estimated that pump prices for diesel fuel will increase between $.05 and $.25 per gallon as a result of the transition. When I first started driving a diesel it was $.40 less per gallon than gas. from what the article says. it should still be cheaper than gas. huntinguide
yeah they take the sulfer out it burns cleaner and the miles per gallon goes down its a win win for the gas producers. They sell more gas and keep the feds off there back for EPA

Dawg
Another issue is the weakening of the U.S. dollar. Until it stabilizes and regains its value, oil prices for us will continue to rise. Achmandida whoever, the guy from Iran, says the price of oil hasn't reached its full value and should keep going up...................whatever. Jeramie
thats a bunch of crap , nobody cares about the workin man The middle east and tree huggers don’t. Again, thank OPEC, China's economy, the weak USD, and the fact we cant open refineries or drill our large pockets in the USA for the high $$$$. I hear on almost a daily basis that the Big Oil in the US is getting rich off of the working man. Don’t believe what you see on TV. The reason the oil market is booming is China's economy. Once a dormant nation, they are now a HUGE competitor for oil. Compile that with OPEC refusing to produce more product and you have two LARGE countries fighting over scraps. Shaun_300
The diesel at the pumps is ultra low right sulpher now, within the next year or two it's going to ultra ULTRA low, so I bet the prices will go even higher!

stevebeilgard
look, we have enough oil in america to shut down opec. we don't need a drop of their oil. we have it, we know where it is, and no one (politicians) want to get it. opec has stepped on us since the mid 50's, and has no plans to do anything but make us bleed. That is the truth! If we could boot the tree huggers we could drill here, refine here, and pay MUCH less for the end products.
