Nut
I have never been so upset by hunting. I am the only one that is supposed to be turkey hunting this land. Well I worked a bird yesterday but did not close the deal. Well after playing with the bird again for awhile I get to where I hoped to be and had a good chance to end it. The bird gobbles 60 yards away....then silence for about 15 seconds.....BOOM! I have been the only person calling for 2 days and this happens.(trust me I would have quit if someone else had been calling)...I go back to my car go around to see what is going on. The landowner's grandsons truck is there. This is the grandson who deer hunts there without a permission slip(he is over 18) and drives right up to his treestand in the truck. Turning them in is a joke around here...it takes 3 day for the wildlife officer to return calls when you want to report someone doing illlegal activities when you see them. I guess I should have just went to work on time. Just need to rant.........I will be okay in a little while. Already making plans for this weekend. hunter336
Sorry to hear about that. I had that situation happen to me a couple of years ago on my wife's uncle's farm in WV. Worked the bird for an 1 1/2 hours and somebody got in between me and the bird and shot it. You can always hope that they get sick or choke when they eat it. There are too many lazy hunters out there that aren't willing to do it the right way!!
drkillemquick
Sorry to hear about that!!! It seems every few years I have a problem with trespassers while hunting, and I've had my decoys shot at!!!! Hope you have better luck this weekend! woodsman2230
Something similar happened to me yesterday as well. I was hunting publc land in a Ohiobut still this shouldnt happen. A guy comes walking by at about 20 yards and I wave to him. He looks over at me and walkes about 50 yards right behind my decoys between me and the gobbling birds. Then I started working a bird it went silent. Then suddenly the bird gobbles at about 60 yards and I can hear it spitting. When the bird gobbled I could see the guy that cut me off get up to move on the bird and spooked him. The hunter never made a peep all morning. He was letting me do all the work. Tominator
When we had that lease in Morgan county, 9 times out of 10 when I went down there, I had to run tresspassers off. That happened close to 10 years ago and I still get upset thinking about it. Sorry to hear that Fred, I know how you feel.
