Turkeygirl
Got out to the new area to hunt this morning. Beautiful spot...not a bad morning....sat up on a hill and could overlook the opposite hill and surrounding....heard absolutely no gobbles. There is no way there can't be birds here...it's too beautiful an area:eek: Talk a lady in my nursing class who hunts...she said same thing...they were gobbling and then they stopped and she hasn't been hearing anything at night. Andn ow come the opener, we are suppose to go down into the 50s and snow the day before the opener.... I dunno what that's gonna do to the birds...maybe it's still early... Going to try and roost birds near home tonight though...
western NY bowhunter
I know what you're saying. Yesterday morning I went and checked out some winery property that I plan on hunting opening morning. Got there for prime time roost action and never heard a single gobble. I couldn't believe it. Saturday morning in the same spot there were 7 or 8 of them gobbling like crazy all around me! Hang in there...the birds are there...they're just pretty henned up right now. I've got two kids to take out this weekend on their grandfather's 1000 acre farm. The birds haven't really been hunted much at all here for the fast several years...I'm pumped! fly
This is what ya do turkeygirl. Next time you go out take your NCLEX call that announces the test is about to begin. If that doesn't get them to shock gobble nothing will! (For those who don't know, NCLEX is an exam us nurses have to take prior to receiving our license). Guest Outcast
Well one thing I have noticed through the years is that the turkey seem to gobble hard about every other day. Over the last 20 years this has held true for the most part. Every now and then you get a crazy jake that gobbles all the time, but for the most part his holds true in my area of hunting.
