elkoholic
Well, I'm giving it another shot for a moose permit and along with the tag application I bought five super tag chances. I also buy an archery antelope tag as these are unlimited. As for elk, an any bull tag in the Elkhorns (as slim a chance as the moose tag) and I am still debating on trying for a cow tag in the northwest corner here. Good luck on drawing. Remember to read the regs this year with regard to antelope. It is no longer unlimited archery tags. They set a quota and you can now apply 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice for archery. I will probably do sheep on the east front and elk in the Elkhorns. Will put my son in for moose around Helena (can't afford gas to take him very far from home). We will both try for antelope in the Sweet Grass Hills and archery second choice. Excuse me now while I head to the bank to take out a loan for all this! texastrophies
does Montana have a pref point or bonus point system?
elkoholic
Ah yes, I forgot that the Fish, Wildlife and Parks department seems to have decided that archery hunters were depleting the resources and they needed to rein them in. Yes, Montana does have a bonus point system. Every year you apply you can purchase a bonus point, which, entitles you to another "application" in the draw. Basically, it is a useless system. If everyone who applies each year buys a bonus point your chances of drawing never improve. Sometimes you just have to wonder about the people who make the decisions, but that is another story.
