BowJoe
I read this and immediately thought of the picture I saw in school with the frog and the crane where the crane is trying to swallow the frog but the frog grabs the crane by the throat so the crane can't swallow him. The motto below is "Never give up!!!" Sorta seems fitting in this story. I should warn some folks that this is graphic. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,353420,00.html
RangerClay
Did you see the claws on that "songbirds" foot. Looks like a pheasant foot to me. It's really a shame. I love to watch the sharp-shinns hunt when I am walking or in my treestand. They will swoop and dive without a worry amongst the limbs and branchs while other hawks just hunt the open fields. Strut10
Wish I knew wexactly what kind of songbird it was that could kill a hawk from the inside out. I'd go buy 100 of them and stock them around the Strut10 Ranch...............200 if they could do the same thing to owls.

aksheephuntress
...Woah!..That is very interesting....good article , even though graphic- -That is too bad...I love hawks... -My gut feeling, though, is that the hawk was hit somehow by a vehicle, and the croup busted open...I find it hard to believe it was clawed from inside.-especially since they don't just swallow their prey whole, like a reptile....they have to rip their meals and swallow pieces....?? OJR
I agree that the hawk didn't die from the claw! I too believe it was hit and that is what burst the crop!
Dubie
Looks like the result of a bounce off a windshield...I've never seen a hawk swallow food whole. However, I have seen bird insides turn into bird outsides after slamming into glass at 60 mph...
Tominator
Heard that on the news the other day.

LifeNRA
I agree with what Don said. There are too many hawks around here! Rabbit and grouse populations in my area are terrible. Which is why my father and I don't hunt small game anymore. We see more hawks now, way more when I first started hunting!
