Dawg
Sorry hogdawg I gotta agree with your wife as well. I never held a grudge against my parents for letting me believe in Santa. I believe it's very important for kids to believe in Santa and have an imagination when they are a child. If your child develops and imaginary friend, or plays with a cardboard box pretending that it's a cave in Huckleberry Finn, or something are you going to tell him that's not real either? IMHO, kids need to have an imagination, I mean, it's your child, but I have disagree with you here... Sorry dude, you got me confused with the author of this thread. My wife has the same outlook on this as I do. Here's the deal.......I ain't trying to make or force on anyone, my beliefs. We all have different one's. I am just exercising my right to express my views, just as the rest of you are. I don't agree with most of you and you don't agree with me...........so be it. Besides, what fun would this place be if we all agreed on every issue of life?
Swamphunter
Apparently you don't read the Word of God. No it doesn't say that if we tell our children about santa we will burn, but it does say that every liar will have their part in the lake of fire. I'll take my turn in the lake of fire then. My kids are believing in Santa for as long as they want to. When the day comes that they ask me...I'll tell them the truth.
The Kid
I think you're wrong. Some of the most joy a child has is anticipating Santa coming and putting out cookies and milk. Can't imagine depriving my kids of enjoying Christmas the way they did. Let em have fun while they're little....plenty enough time for reality after the age of 8 - 10 Me too, Thats something that the kids look forward too

Guest Andrea
If you are condemned to the lake of fire for telling lies....then everyone single one of us here are doomed. No one here is innocent. Even little white lies count......... I believed in Santa and so did my kids.......none of are going to h*** because of it. They know the true meaning of Christmas and Easter and have been saved. fly
Seems the majority here feel like it's better to have your children believe in Santa than not. So you have that to think about. I'd agree with the majority. I don't think a husband and wife telling the kids there IS or IS NOT a Santa is as big an issue as the conflict it is creating between you and your wife. Kids need to feel like they are in a stable environment. It's essential for their well-being. I'd advise you to spend some more time with your wife and come to a resolution on the issue in a calm manner while the kids are not around. One final note, most children that are told there IS NOT a Santa will tell the others (unless that child is older and can play along). Ask yourself: Is it really that important to you? If so make that known to your wife.
Muff
I think if I had been told there was no Santa when I was a kid....now I would have bad feeling towards my parents for robbing me of a childhood dream......like come on really for a kid whats christmas with out the thoughts of Sants comin to your house on Christmas eve.....just my 2 cents. wtnhunt
Would it be a lie if you told them the sky was brown? Yes. Why? Because the sky isn't brown, just like santa doesn't exist. LOL. Would have to depend upon where you are and what time of the year, I have seen the sky tinted eerily green, and yes even seen it look as if it had a brown appearance before. Far as the lies, the severity of those lies and where its puts you in regards to condemnation(lake of fire), I think it is kind of wrong to assume another persons fate based on your own opinion. Seems a bit judgemental to me. This whole thing is about Christmas, remember Christ died to save us from our sins that we are all guilty of, even those little harmless white lies. dogdoc
i agree with your wife 110%. Let 'em be kids. The enjoyment my kids get in believing in Santa is part of what makes CHRISTmas so enjoyable. I'm so glad my parents allowed me to believe in Santa. Glad i'm not married to ya:) todd

Not once have I assumed anyone's fate based on my opinion, I simply stated what the Word of God says. I will agree with the second part of your quote above. Whatever you get out of what I stated is on your own shoulders, not mine.

Guess somehow I misunderstood what you were getting at here. I took what is in bold there as meaning you feel as though those who lie no matter what the lie, are condemned. Really did not see any other way to take that.
Dawg
Well, the deal is, I can interpret one scripture one way and you another. Does that make you or me wrong? I don't think so. If you see it one way, then that is the way you see it. We both have that right. And besides, I've always enjoyed a good debate!!
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Move over folks, make room for me in the "lake of fire" How someone can have a heated debate about Santa Claus is beyond me. and to make your wife cry over it?? WOW, pretty pathetic. Having an imagination is part of being a kid. Don't give me this "lying to them" crap. they're kids for crying out loud, let them be kids. Do you not allow them to dress up on Halloween either? after all, they really aren't power rangers, or sponge bob, so they shouldn't be out lying to people making them think they are right? It is possible for them to believe in Santa and also know the TRUE meaning of Christmas;)

I agree with you completely that not everyone agrees on how they take scriptures, and I am not going to say you are wrong or I am right either, we just have differing opinions. I always enjoy good debates too, I learn more from good debates and discussions than I could ever learn from sitting listening to someone reading to me. Ohiobucks
Wait a tick....Santa isn't real?!!? :( Have you ever seen God, or Jesus, or the lake of fire, or Satan, or Santa? I'm a firm believer in the first 4 I mentioned, yet I have not personally seen them with my own eyes. I see no harm in letting a child believe in the last one...... JimPic
While you're at it,tell her the Easter bunny & tooth fairy are fakes too. Also, better not let her play with dolls, either. Can't let her grow up thinking the "baby" she played with was wrong. Let the kid grow up in her own time.I gotta side with the Mrs. on this one

muggs
You all have your reasons, as Bowjoe and I have ours..................................................................let it be. I see your point hogdawg, and you and BowJoe are most definitely entitled to your opinions. But you have to understand that if you come out and say that people who tell their kids Santa exists are going to a lake of fire when they die, you have to understand they're going to get upset and let you know about it. There's two sides to every coin.

I simply said that the Word of God says that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. I didn't write the Word of God. I don't mind you all expressing your opinions, I haven't got bent out of shape like it seems some folk have. The reason I said to let it be is because, you ain't going to change my mind and I ain't gonna change any of ya'lls, so why keep going around this never ending cycle? BowJoe did get answers to his question, but why is it that when I express my views I get all but jumped on? Let it be. ..............dawg out. aksheephuntress
...Hey, Bowjoe...-I am afraid to ask about what other things you and your wife argue about..?...-or, should I say -you dictate to her about, without being sensitive to her opinion?? ...Seems like you are interested in , and open to ,listening to what everyone here has to say about it...when what would really be a key to the harmony and love in your family...is to sincerely listen and talk with your WIFE and give her the time to share with you,on this.... ...This goes beyond just Santa Claus....it is about a consideration for your wife. -The love and respect between a husband and wife is ten-fold more important -spiritually and scripturally -than an unnessessary argument between you two ,about Santa Claus... ...You're a good guy, BowJoe;and you have a lot of wonderful gifts ahead of you in life, with your beautiful family...don't mess it up- Please think about this... dartonman
WOW.....you guys just shattered my world....what do you mean Santa's not real.........my kids are believing in Santa, and the Spirit of Christmas, and the true Christian meaning as well...have your kids watch THE POLAR EXPRESS.....good movie....let kids be kids....life is too short not to laugh, and watch them leave "carrots" for the reindeer, and cookies for the big guy.....geez....lighten up and enjoy them as kids....could be worse, they could be in a home where they allow 60 year old men marry and impregnate 13 year old girls over their "religion"...no child should be denied a childhood.....Im with your wife on this one......110 percent....al
