western NY bowhunter
Tagged bird #1 this morning. Nice 2-yr old...21.5#, 9.5" beard and 3/4" spurs. He came strutting into the decoys with a jake at 6:30 and the hevi-13 #6's put him down with some authority @ 40 yds. There were several birds still gobbling around us after I shot this one. Messed with a couple of longbeards an hour later. They gobbled up a storm and I managed to pull them to within 70 yds of my dad but couldn't get them to leave a hen to come those last 30 yds. We'll be back after those dudes in the morning. In all, I heard/worked 13-14 different gobblers by 8:30 and heard quite a lot of shooting. First turkey with the new gobbler killer...3.5" browning bps with an indian creek choke... My uncle also scored on a really nice 3-yr. old this morning.
