RUTNSTRUT
Earnhardt was a proven winner and champion. He respected the other drivers and the other drivers respected him. He was famous for hitting people. He didn't always wreck them, but during the time I watched him, when he made a mistake he was man enough to admit it. Kyle Busch hasn't proven anything. By his attitude, he lacks respect and isn't man enough to take blame. Very well said,i couldn't agree more.

Sr. was no better than KB back in the day. He was notorious for wrecking people if he couldn't just pass them. I can't count how many times I've seen him wreck (or move) people out of the way to win a race. I was tickled to death when Mayfield bumped Sr. out of the way to win at Pocono several years ago. That was AWESOME!!!!! He final got some payback! Earnhardt was hated and booed by a lot of fans for most of his career for the same stuff KB is hearing it for now. It wasn't until the last 4-5 years of Dale's career that he settle down some and people as a whole started to like him more. Once KB has been in Cup for 10 years and has a couple championships and 40-50 wins we'll see how he compares to Earnhardt. The kid just needs a chance to mature that's all. Same as Earnhardt did. Do you honestly believe kb is going to be that successfull over his career????? It is funny how everybody is compared to Earnhardt. If I remember correctly, he was Rookie of the Year, first year and the Champion his second year. And that wasn't in the same level of equipment that kb was in at Hendricks his first however many years. Doesn't look like to me he is very comparable to Earnhardt. I hate saying this, but if you want to compare results Gordon & Johnson are a lot closer to Earnhardt than anybody else on the track at this time. VABuckSlayer
Do you honestly believe kb is going to be that successfull over his career????? I don't know. He has a chance to be real good though. The issue is the driving style here. KB is being criticized for a lot of the same things Earnhardt did in his career that people love him for. However KB is getting a lot of grief for his style. DE was a rough and tough ol country boy that a lot of southern fans grew to like. KB is an arrogant kid from the west that most southern fans don't care for. Only time will tell if he'll ever win the fans over. BTW... I met DE Sr. once in the garage at Richmond during a test session. Got to shake his hand and talk to him for a few minutes. He was a pretty down to earth guy off the track! I still didn't care for him "on the track" being a Rusty Wallace fan!

Again, Earnhardt was and still is one of the all-time greats. Kyle Busch hasn't done "crap" in NAPCAR, yet he has the attitude that he is the greatest ever. snapper
They all make mistakes from time to time...comparing Dale Sr. and Kyle Busch is a joke. Yes Dale took out a few cars in his time, however, most of the time Dale Sr. got the car in front of him loose enough to pass them WITHOUT wrecking them. Kyle does whatever it takes to pass...wreck, loose, whatever! Won't be long before others start racing him the same way...then he can cry the blues...lol. VABuckSlayer
Your right... we can't compare until Kyle has another 20 years under his belt. Then we can compare. BTW... KB got another WIN last night!!!

VABuckSlayer
So its what, 70 wins and 7 championships left to go? Ok Chrud you win! KB will never win 7 championships and never win 70+ races and "never" be considered as good as DE!! Nobody will in the eyes of the Dale Sr. fan. Sr. fans live in their own world and NASCAR will never be the same now that he's gone. For the rest of us there are still some good young talented drivers out there that are putting on a great show and still making the sport interesting. I'm done defending KB (I'm not even a fan of his) but look forward to watching him the rest of this year!! He may get 10 wins the way he's going!! snapper
Based on stats...only driver you could compare to Dale Sr. is "The King" and maybe (this is a strech) Jeff Gordon. And your right...Nascar isn't the same since Sr. passed. Kyle def. has talent...just don't know how to use it yet. When you "turn" a guy and the crowd cheers...then your driving. Kyle is making more drivers upset than respected.
The_Kat
I'm waiting for the day KB gets his car wrecked by another driver....LOL...I suspect it could be a talledega nights kinda thing lololol!!!

He has won more career races than Sr. He would have only 1 less championship if it wasn't for "The Chase". Sr. didn't have to deal with that!!! I can't stand Jeff Gordon but to say it's a stretch to compare him in stats to DE is just foolish! Like I said... all the DE fans live in their own world and can't "see" another driver but DE. It's worthless to argue the point win DE fans!!! Sorry y'all can't enjoy NASCAR anymore!

I just have a hard time figuring out how you compare someone with 70+ wins and 7 championship to someone who has 5 or 6 wins. They way Earnhardt raced and bumped isn't even comparable to how Busch races and wrecks. And yes, Jeff Gordon is as good as Earnhardt was, maybe even better. However, Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards are probably the best I've ever seen. Earnhardt Jr is very good, but he's probably the second most over-rated driver even in NASCRAP. Second only to Kasey Kahne. Kyle Busch has the worst attitude of any driver I've ever watched being interviewed. Seems like he thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I can't enjoy the Hollywood, money over loyalty, so-called American tradition that is NASCAR anymore. Just the opinion from an Earnhardt fan living in my own little world that doesn't see anything else.

I'm just saying DE pissed off a lot of people most of his career with his aggressive driving style much like KB is doing now. Very similar. There are a lot of DE fans who only watched the last 5 or so years of his career and missed the early days when he took guys out just like KB with hard racing. KB is the bad guy now just like DE (The man in black) was in his day. DE wasn't a "good guy" until late in his career. Just give KB time to mature and we'll see how he does. I agree with you about JJ and Carl Edwards being good but I think Greg Biffle is one of the best out there too and just has too many problems to show it. Put him in a Hendricks car and he would win Championships for sure.
