Guest Andrea
Went to my first BMX race today. Pretty sweet. Those guys can fly!!! My son is really wanting to get involved in this. He's pretty good on his bike. I heard it's expensive though. Got some pics, will upload soon. Youngest racers were 4 and 5. All the way up to grown men. From all over the southeast. Anyone here race??
BowtechTurkeyHunter
I would think the most expensive part would be just the travel alone ... with the way gas prices are ... sponsors would be the key I would think to a successful team. Guest Andrea
Sorry for the chain link. Didn't wanna stand up in front of people and get yelled at. Yeah...sponsorship is the ticket. I just figure this has got to be better than letting my kid drive a race car.......
Guest johnmusic88
That looks like a ton of fun, but I can imagine how much traveling expenses cost, but I'm sure it'll be worth it right?
Guest Andrea
Not too sure about traveling. May have to buy a small car for that. I dunno. Would like to see him involved in something though. The boy knows no fear. I have a feeling he'd be excellent at this. All he does is ride his bike.

AdvantageTimberLou
When I was growing up I did freestyle. The tricks on your bike. Still have my trick bike in my basement. Took alot of falls but I enjoyed it a ton. Expensive yes but once you get the bike and accessories its not all that bad. Great sport for young kids and I would recommend BMX to anyone!! I had several over the years... GT, General (R.L. Osbourn signature) and a Haro. I had tons of fun. I wish I would have kept the last one now:(. I wish I would have kept the last one now:(. I have my old Dyno from 1987 still in my basement. Had a Hutch too and a Haro. You had some great ones yourself! Brings back some old memories and reminds me of all the bumps and bruises and cuts!! Did some crazy tricks that was for sure!
wtnhunt
Was around bmx racing some when I was a kid. Never raced competitively, but did ride tracks at parks with other kids quite a bit, raced outside competitions quite a bit with other kids. Still have my old bike too, a mongoose supergoose, pretty light and decent bike for the time. That bike was made well before ever dreaming of seeing a mongoose bike in a wally world. Other than needing new tires and grips, the bike is in pretty good shape. Used to do some pretty crazy stuff too. When I broke my arm it was on a different bike that had no brakes, freak accident I was going less than 5 mph. I can remember lots of falls, but never anything really serious on my own bike. Was a lot of fun riding, does bring back some memories.
okiedog
I have my old Dyno from 1987 still in my basement. I always wanted a Blue Dyno:cool:. Great times for sure:). I ride freestyle from about 85-88. I got a chance to see the Eddie Fiola in the 87 GT World Tour, and accually have it recorded on a VHS tape. After my bike phase I started skating. I did that from 88-94. I ended up with a small deal from Vsion Street Wear and got to meet and skate with alot pros. It sure was a blast:D. HarvDog
My cousin got me into BMX racing when I was growing up. I started with a Kuwahara then moved to a Patterson Racing Pro. I quick found out that I sucked on the track! I was much better at freestyling! We had a great little pack of freestylers until everyone started getting their driver's licenses. PRIORITIES!!! MCH
Wow! Guess I killed this thread, huh? No, Harv. Chris killed this thread. You tried to resurrect it, but Chris had just done too good of a job killing it. :D:D

okiedog
I started with a Kuwahara then moved to a Patterson Racing Pro. I remember the Kuwahara Magician's in like 86 or 87. Eddie Fiola use to be with Kuwahara but signed with GT in 83 I think. Theres a bump for the dead thread!

okiedog
Can't believe I'm doing this but here are some pix of me Your a better man than me:D. Cool pics... I've got a few pictures put I also have a couple of hours worth of VHS tapes of me riding and doing demos from around 86-90 I think. Little bit of freestyle riding but mostly skating. Interesting enough... I built a mini quarter pipe last night to start my son off on and see if continues to show interest in skating. If he does, I have already started plans on a mini ramp for the yard. If it goes that far I'll have to dig out my old board and try it out for myself:eek::D
