dsharp01
Looking into getting a thermacell bug repeller. Anybody have one and how good do they work?
bfletch7441
They sure do! We bought one for the porch about two years ago, and I got one for my tree stand last year. Wind does cut down on their effectiveness a bit, but with much wind, you don't have the bugs anyway. Definitely money well spent. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
One of best purchases I have made. Bought one before bow season last year and it was the first time I could sit in the stand and not have to worry about bugs. Get one, you won't be sorry

unioncountyslayer
Best $25 I ever spent, EVER. And I would know, considering the NC and SC state bird is the mosquito.
johnf
My wife and daughter went out on a girl scout camp-out this weekend. We got one because the leader didn't want any repellent cans. They didn't get a single bite, but said some of the other campers were counting bites the next morning. I'll be taking it with me during bow season for sure. Guest gyrene
I've used mine teal hunting in south texas ricefields and had good results if the wind doesn't get up past 10 to 15 mph.
backwoods07
LIKE A CHARM!!! I hunted over a more or less area that was flooded all summer and into fall. We couldn't even walk in there to hang stands because of all of the bugs. OFF! was no challenge for these bugs. I hopped up in the stand in October, started up my Thermacell, and I couldn't believe how well it worked!!
cflhunter
Don't go in woods without mine!
Adjam5
Mine works well, but it takes a few minutes to get there. When the pads get white, change them to keep it effective. It has been very valuable this turkey season.
Guest ckcranch
How long go they last? Do they make any noise or put out any scent?
Adjam5
How long go they last? Do they make any noise or put out any scent? I find I am getting 2-3 days of hunting out of the pads. You know when its time to change them by the amount of bugs that bug you:D. The butane cartridges last about 1 to every 3 pads. No noise, but there is a flame that burns inside, so it is NOT a pocket item while its running. Let it cool before you put it away. Does it smell? I smell a odor when it runs. Does it spook deer? Don't know...Most of the bugs are dead when we get to deer hunt in NY so I don't use it. But I never leave for the turkey woods without the Thermo cell. wtnhunt
How long go they last? Do they make any noise or put out any scent? Yep. They work, pretty well silent, but they do emit an odor. Not sure if the odor is enough to spook deer or not, but I know if I can smell it, they can too. Had some does last year act really flaky on me during bow season while using the thermacell, really think they caught wind of the odor and were unsure. Far as the mosquito repelling, it helps, but does not keep 100 percent of the mosquitoes away, and walking with the thermacell on will not keep biting flies such as deer flies away or off of you unless you walk incredibly slow. Guest ******
Best thing I ever bought for hunting anytime anywhere. Grab the fabric carrying case that allow you to strap it onto your belt or pack. Makes it that much better. I've had deer at 5 yards in front of me on the ground not smell it, and it doesn't trigger allergies or sensitivities to bug spray.
MagnoliaHunter
DON'T re-use the pads. I never get an oder the first time i use a pad. Every time I've tried to re-use one I smell the burning smell. With fresh pads, I have had deer all around me even down wind at less than 20 yards and they didnt smell a thing.
