coles
friday evening we went out to one of my friends pond for a bonfire and they have been havin a real problem with muskrats eating the foam out of their floating dock. so we pulled up on the hill above the pond to see what we could see. well we saw one so i got out with my .204. him and another friend took my 30-30 that i just got and loaded it up too. after shooting at the muskrat and missing we just started shooting the mud and sticks floating in the water. well he wanted to shoot the 204 so i handed him a couple shells. he shot one and then wanted to shoot the 30-30 so he gave me the shells back. all but one but i didnt notice. then i heard it. a little pop out of the 30-30 and we couldnt figure out waht happened but we saw the bullet hit the water. so he opend up the action and the shell was stuck. after prying it out with a knive he handed it to me and i notice he just shot a 204 shell out of my 30-30. lets just say that the 204 case is no longer reloadable. i wanted to hit him in the face but i realized it was an accident. i just hope that lil 20 caliber bullet bouncing down that 30 caliber barrel didnt hurt the riflings or anything. Leo
Probably didn't hurt a thing. I might have pushed him in the water though...
LifeNRA
NEVER shoot a bullet at water! Ever hear of ricochet??? That bullet can go anywhere after hitting the water! Very dangerous!
hangunnr
As much as I hate to say it it's ultimately your fault for not policing your ammo. I always make sure exactly what's going on when one of my friends is shooting one of my firearms. There shouldn't be any harm done to your rifle. I'd give it a good chamber cleaning and a visual once over. Be happy no one got hurt. hangunnr
coles
the first thing that we did after that happened was put the guns up. and i did look at it to see if there was any visual damage. i know it could be blamed on me but it was an honest mistake. i guess i was just in disbelief that something like that can happen in the blink of an eye. so i guess the lesson learned here was make sure people know what they are doing and how they are doin it at all times.
