Strut10
Don't get me wrong. Nobody........and I mean nobody.........likes to knock the block off an old sharp-spurred monarch any more than I do. But there's a whole lot more to the process of me enjoying a day afield in pursuit of an old tom. I decided to keep the camera in an open pocket today for my 6 1/2 hour journey around and across the Strut10 Ranch. These are some of the non-turkey things that I look forward to seeing each and every spring and, ultimately, the reasons I enjoy turkey hunting so much. Of course........sunrises. Those rolling Pennsylvania hills. Oak timber. Woods roads. Waterfalls. Oak blossoms. A sure sign of spring...........dogwood blossoms. Another sure sign.......a patch of ramps. Trillium. Wild apple blossoms. A wild strawberry blossom. Wild violets. Wood anemone.

Strut10
Very nice! Didn't see a single bird however?! Actually I fooled with an ignorant so-and-so that had a pair of hens. Wouldn't gobble, wouldn't come, wouldn't nothin'. Can't say as I blame him. He watched me smoke his buddy last week.

Strut10
Actually, look at your strawberry pic. I think that might be false strawberry, the leaf looks too toothed. Nope. That's the real deal. It's of one of the best wild strawberry patches around these parts. About 3 or 4 more weeks and I'll be sitting in the middle of it one day. Rem308
I really liked this post...in fact, it has inspired me to do the same this Saturday. I'm turkey hunting with a friend at his property and I'm going to tote my camera with me and attempt to do a 'Photo Essay' of my own. Thanks for the inspiration. Tominator
The strawberry patch is spittin distance from a carpet of teaberries. I'd probably be really really jealous if I knew what a teaberry was. Is that Pennsylvania for blueberry?
Strut10
I'd probably be really really jealous if I knew what a teaberry was. Evidently you don't have them out in the flatlands. It's also known as wintergreen. It gets little red wintergreen flavored (no kiddin') berries. They look like little apples with a bit crisper texture than a blueberry. And here I thought you were knowledgeable in the ways of the woods.
