Today the turkey's where gobbling but didnt respond to our calls. We were hearing them here and there in the distance. Me and my buddy who was hunting farther also had birds gobbling . So he also tried to get closer to the birds and call them in. But like me the birds seem to walk away. I wonder why they gobbled .They where not gobbling at our calls. So I figure... Is it because they where with hen's and didn't bother about our calls? I was surprised to see that they wouldn't respond or not much and come in to our setup. They simply walked away farther:confused::confused:

i had a simular issue with my first day hunting i found that the birds that had hens (first day was may 5th) had no intrest in any call i was making, they would gobble every now and then but for the most part they wouldn't gobble at my calls just the hens he already had, we did kill one bird but he was alone and ran threw a swamp from 150 yards out, to with in 15 yards. so just keep looking and find the lone birds. Oh and we kill our bird. 11.5" beard 1.125" spr's
