Thanks everyone for the prayers, just thought I would give an update, I am doing a hole lot better but not great yet. I was in the emergency room for a bad case of what they have diagnosed as diverticulitis, which is a digestive infection. I started having abdominal pains on friday afternoon but I did not think much of it until friday night when they got much much worse, I was up all night and when I got up saturday morning I went to the urgent care and they would not even look at me when I told the what was going on. They sent me to the emergency room where they ran some tests and gave me some morphine for the pain, which was good to have the pain go away but the side effects were not a hole lot of fun, I felt very very sick. I am on a couple antibiotics and some pain killers which is much better than the other treatment which I have been told is done in the hospital. Dr. said not to go to work for a few days to get better but the worst thing is I am off real food for a few more, which honestly is ok because my stomach is really uneasy anyways.

Well again thank you for the prayers, I think I am on the down hill side of this for now!! A few days of rest and the dr said I should be much better.

Careful!

I think dealing with the after effects of morphine are in many cases worse than dealing with pain. Would never let them put me on that stuff ever again.

Hope you get to feeling better soon Brian.

As to morphine, it can be horrible but at the same time, if you are having heart problems and the pain won't subside, they will give you morphine to ease the stress on the heart!

I have had it when I got busted up and coming off of it was horrible. I have also had it when my heart acted up and it helped a lot!

As with anything else, overdoing it and it is a bad thing!

Not trying to hijack this thread, but back in 2003 came out of lung surgery supposed to have been on an epidural, but was instead on a pca morphine pump which was not effectively working for the pain. My wife, a registered nurse, questioned whether it was working properly. It was a bad deal, got really sick felt bad dizzy and nauseated and it was not working for the pain. On the second day I made them take it out. Like I said, never again, personally I would rather bear whatever pain than have that sick feeling.

Hope you get better soon Brian, prayers on the way.

....prayers for your continued recovery....and healing for the diverticulitis...glad to hear you are doing better-

-yes, I have heard horror stories about Morphine,as well....I know it can really be useful...but it really affects some people horribly!-I was supposedly give Morphine when I got bacterial memingitis, when the doctors were fiddling around for a few days, trying to determine what was wrong(before the spinal tap...)-I don't remember much about all of that whole ordeal,though...

-...continued prayers from Alaska...and you did the right thing by going right in for medical treatment, Brian!
