ruttinbuc
Talking about the curiosity thing, you can hang a piece of white ribbon or a white plastic grocery bag along a field edge and let it flop in the breeze. Deer will show up and check it out. Baiting of sorts or luring?

Guest Finn
Yep, we bait. Use whole corn.....love seeing all the deer and wildlife that come to eat all the time. We'll see how much I can afford to use it this year.
Guest ckcranch
I am all for using corn to attract deer. I have a corn feeder, but I get more racoons and crows at my feeder then deer.

texastrophies
Im only talking about food attractants, not calls. I dont consider using food plots as baiting either. I consider baiting to mean, taking something out into the woods that would not naturally occur in that area, and placing it there to attract the deer to eat. News flash!!!!!!!!!!!!! food plots don't occur naturally. You have to work the ground, take seed out into the woods to plant, then either water or hope you get enough rain. Buckee had a number of good replies to you, as did others, baiting (which, I think, is what you were trying to do) can involve a number of things, not just a corn feeder. Do what you want, if legal, and allow and support others who do what they want, as long as it is legal. To answer your question, I bait with apple flavored corn coming out of my feeder, normally set to go off at 7:00 am, 7:30 am, 4:30 pm, 5:15 pm and midnight. No, I am not hunting at midnight, but don't mind if they are feeding then.
Guest Andrea
Legal here so I do it. The big boys will come in and eat before the rut but after the rut comes in they rarely makes appearances in daylight unless they are with a hot doe. Can't use corn on Water Management and that's where the really big boys are. So we set up over trails and don't use any scent attractants. ( Those river bucks are NOT fooled by anything)
Guest social
I just put out a good quality mineral lick - like these guys www.deertech.net . I put it out early in the spring and they come all fall long - not sure if that counts as baiting?
rodngun
I tried to bait deer ,and I just kept losing one rattle trap after another -so I quit doing it. Now if your talking about putting out feed supplements,or deer coming along and finding range cubes or the like then I guess I have Baited deer...we have a few acorn trees on the ranch and God baits them with that too.Guess I should cut down the tree's.Or maybe your talking about the fields of corn, grain, watermelon patches etc etc,I guess you could say the entire state of texas is baited.Unless of course you are talking about ZOO hunting and thats a whole nuther story. backwoods07
In llinois, baiting is illegal. You know, the whole CWD situation...
elkoholic
This post has taken some interesting twists. A man asks a simple question, gets a load of crap and very few answers. My answer to the question is no. Enough said.

Bayou
We plant over 70 acres in clover and wheat but we also have corn feeders that we hunt over. It's legal down here.
JasonLester
I'm to cheap to spend much money on food plots and corn. I did put a feeder out this past year because I know the neigbor has put some stuff out. I know because I used to hunt the property and I saw alot more deer activity. Since it sold I've seen very little. I put the feeder out to even the odds. In the whole season I sat near it 3 times and never once saw a deer near it. Its legal and I know I can but I've never seen the results others have. Maybe if I poured more money into it to keep it full year round and train them that its there. But like I said I'm to cheap. Guest T/C Scott
bait I would if it was legal here in Georgia.
camocop
Do you use deer calls, rattling horns or scents/lures? I consider all those bait also. bait by my states standards has to be something edible or ingested. baiting is illegal where i hunt but if it's legal in your area...go for it. i personally don't believe in it nor would i bait if it was legal in my area. bigmoss
Nope, it's illegal in Ontario. Actually Shaun it is legal here until the season opens but up until opening day you can bait all you want.

Finally, somebody caught on to what I was asking. Baiting is food attractant. Ive never heard of a state making the use of calls illegal.
